$14.79 Although he doesn't totally transcend his Stevie Ray Vaughan/Hendrix influences, Chris Duarte attempts to progress beyond them -- occasionally -- on his fourth release, Romp. Kicking off with the greasy Junior Kimbrough-penned title track, he then moves into a sizzling Hendrix-fueled instrumental, "101," which shows his hot-dog guitar prowess but could have been on any of his previous discs. Similarly, the flashy "Like Eric" doesn't hide the fact that if you wanted to hear Eric Johnson, you'd buy ...

Blues Tribute To The Grateful Dead CD music
$13.65 Howdy,Hereâs how this Frankie & the Pool Boys project came togetherâAfter years of heavy duty activity, and for various adult reasons, Pollo Del Mar had to take a break. I was patient, then I got bored... Really bored, and itching to do something. I remembered the Zappa album âRueben and the Jetsâ, where Frank took some of his Mothersâ songs and recast them as Doo-Wop songs. I thought, âHey, Iâll take some old PDM songs and recast them as Surf Music.â Imagine that, Pollo Del Mar playing surf music!?!Dusty came over and we did some recording, but I got bored working on old songs and some of those Pollo tunes just didnât want to get squeezed into the surf mold anyway. So Dusty came over again and we recorded some new stuff. Then I thought, âMan, you know who would sound great on this song?â and I called them up and they said, âYesâ and it all started to come together. But, it wasnât really a Pollo CD, and it wasnât really not one either. Call it a âside projectâ, and, please, anything but âsolo effortâ â thatâs the kiss of death! So who really are âFrankie & the Pool Boysâ? Just a bunch of teenage idiots without a care in the world. They have day jobs cleaning your pool, a night shift parking cars, fake I.D.s and an 8-Track. Theyâve got a â72 Mustang that will be rolling any day now, a date with your daughter next Friday and big, big plans for the future.*****************************************Here\'s a review from Englands \"New Gandy Dancer\" Magazine:New Gandy Dancer Review of Frankie & The Pool Boys\"This is quite definitely our album of the year - my God is it good! In a break from the sublime Pollo Del Mar, Ferenc Dobronyi put together Frankie & The Poolboys to rearrange some of Pollo\'s instrumentals into a surf style. They added new tunes and two covers. ...
