Director Jeremy Marre
Performer(s) Flaco Jimenez, Lydia Mendoza
"Tex-Mex" is a street-level tour of this border world, through cantinas, prisons, festivals, and even brothels where Tex-Mex music grows. Caught in performance and intimate conversation are Lydia Mendoza, one of the last great corrido singers, whose career stretches back to the 1930's; Flaco Jimenez, the old style button accordion player who injected a Tex-Mex flavor into the music of Ry Cooder and Paul Simon; political firebrand Little Joe Hernandez and many other great performers of norteno, corrida and other Tex-Mex styles.

The border region that runs for 1,000 miles along the Rio Grande River makes up a distinct culture that straddles both the countries and traditions of Texas and Mexico. A land that is cursed with violence and drug trafficking is also blessed with an extremely rich culture that has rarely been mined for mainstream consumption. This fascinating documentary takes an unprecedented look at the indigenous music of the region, which ranges from Norteno and Corrido to infusion in more mainstream genres by artists like Paul Simon and Ry Cooder.

Set in 1962; Produced and released in 1973. AMERICAN GRAFFITI presents a powerful collage of youth on the brink of maturity just before the assassination of J.F.K.. Based on George Lucas's own teenage hot-rodding days in Modesto, California, this brilliant, bittersweet comedy inspired numerous other productions, including the long-running TV series HAPPY DAYS. With the release of Robert Altman's M*A*S*H in 1970, a new form of comedy was born, one that would help to forever change the face of cinema. Altman's audacious film reflected the American counterculture's growing distrust of religion and government in the late 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in one of the biggest box office smashes of its time. Introducing the techniques he would employ throughout his storied career--overlapping dialogue, a constantly moving camera with a heavy amount of zooming, and a bold ...

Prepare for disaster with this action-packed pair of films. DANTE'S PEAK: A volcanologist forlorn over the loss of his wife in the Mt. Pinatubo eruption arrives at a small Pacific Northwest town to investigate the rumblings of the local dormant volcano. Though he instantly fears the worst, he must convince the skeptical townspeople and his suspicious superiors, who believe he is overreacting in the aftermath of his own tragedy. The beautiful, widowed mayor of the picturesque town believes him, however, and soon they find themselves in a fight for their lives as "Dante's Peak" blows its stack 10 miles high, raining ash and fire ...
