The perfect band for Roadrunner Records, Chimaira takes nu-metal syncopation and ideology, balances it with hints of death metal's angst-overdose (vocalist Mark Hunter has a distinctively brutal screech), and punctuates it with a more-than-expected electronic influx to create a fairly unique sound. The experimentation doesn't take away from the heaviness or accessibility, however, as the Cleveland group takes Fear Factory's noise to another level of intensity. ~ Brian O'Neill

Roadrunner is quickly becomming my favorite record company in the Metal Business. Chimaira is another unbelievable find. This being their debut album, upon hearing it you will be wondering what the hell their name means. Why? So that you can explain it to everybody when your telling them about this album.

A much different side of Chimaira
This is when the band made the transition from the nu-metal stage into the metalcore/groove metal stage that they are currently. What a process that this band was making through if things weren't so rough on where the nu-metal explosion would go to. If things were to do a 'change up', this LP is what you'll need that got them where the Infection LP is at.

You are both two little sh*t eaters who are the products of inbreeding. Wow, "eats pud". What kind of insult is that? Did you learn that from someone with tourettes? People can do what they want but if you try to infringe on the rights of others, you are asking to get your face smashed in. I hope someone who lives around you will do that.
As for this album, it is pretty good and has some good nostalgia value but the band has improved so much since then.

Mallcore?
Whoever said this is mallcore is a big donkey dink slinger. Chimaira rocks, plain and simple. If you don't like this style of metal than don't listen to it. Go buy "ride the lightning" and shut you rooster hole.
