Following an unexpected breakthrough success has proved difficult for many rock bands over the years; Scottish metallists Nazareth were no exception in trying to equal their 1975 worldwide breakthrough HAIR OF THE DOG. Especially puzzling to the band must have been that it was a power ballad ("Love Hurts"), and not one of their trademark heavy metal songs that scaled the top of the charts.
This may have led to some controversy as to whether they should explore their softer side further or stick to their hard rock guns. 1976's CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ROCK N' ROLL finds the band caught somewhere in the middle, with standouts including the album opener "Telegram Parts 1-4" and "Vancouver Shakedown." The late-'90s CD reissue includes as a bonus the non-album U.K. hit single "Holy Roller."
Recorded at Le Studio, Montreal, Canada.
Personnel: Pete Agnew (vocals, guitar, piano, bass guitar); Dan McCafferty (vocals); Manny Charlton (guitar); Darrell Sweet (drums, percussion).

"Someone else can compose music for you. Someone else can perform music for you. No one on earth can listen to music for you." by Olga Stokowski Listeners say this music is for "relieving big time stress, massage, quiet contemplation, yoga practise, pure relaxation, a stroll into the welcoming arms of nature...it's uplifting, inspiring, romantic, very picturesque, soothing, healing, a different journey every time you hear it."
