Best of Gladys Knight & The Pips (Legacy) album for sale Product Description
Best of Gladys Knight & The Pips (Legacy) album for sale by Gladys Knight was released Aug 21, 2001 on the Legacy label. The title of Columbia/Legacy's 2001 release The Best of Gladys Knight & the Pips is patently untrue. Best of Gladys Knight & The Pips (Legacy) buy CD music If this was called "The Best of Gladys Knight & the Pips: 1980-1985" it would be truth in advertising, since the first 12 tracks chronicle her and the Pips' minor R&B hits from that time period. Of these songs, only two -- "Landlord" and "Save the Overtime (For Me)" -- made the pop charts, and while that isn't necessary a sign that they're not great, it does show that a pop-oriented soul group couldn't make the pop charts with these recordings. Best of Gladys Knight & The Pips (Legacy) CD music contains a single disc with 15 songs. ...See Full Description

Raduza Pri Mne Stuj! CD (2004)
Best of Gladys Knight & The Pips (Legacy) buy CD music There is an urgency in Raduza's voice, a tone fueled by an almost masculine anger that contrasts sharply with her soft handling of the accordion. In some songs on ...pri me stuj she evokes the image of the singer from the Scissor Girls or the Ex if they had decided to unplug and turn to folk. In these particular songs ("Jelem," "Oh, Madame," or "Tam, Pod Jestedem," for instance), one can feel a heavy influence from sea shanties -- the way she spits out her lyrics in "Tam, Pod Jestedem" and shouts a final "Ho!" you can picture her singing to sailors in a smoky pub in Bretagne. Elsewhere, she draws inspiration from French musette and chanson -- the music occasionally sounds dated, but her raw, punkish delivery abolishes temptations of nostalgia. In the mellower tunes, she comes closer to the folk stylings of Vladimír Veit or Tomas Jensen. Most of the 16 songs on ...pri me stuj, her second album, consist solely of voice and accordion (a mean, fat sounding one). In three tracks, she occasionally triggers a percussive punch (bass drum and cymbal) -- something everyone could do without. "Studeny Nohy" and "Bremen" feature guests Omar Khaouaj (guitar) and Frantisek Raba (bass). Understandably richer in arrangements, these songs bring a nice respite from Raduza's slightly claustrophobic universe. The closing waltz, "At' Není Mi Líto," is beautiful and provides the last example of the singer's wide emotional palette. ~ François Couture

Cellarscape Fifth Phoenix CD (2007)
Best of Gladys Knight & The Pips (Legacy) buy CD music CELLARSCAPE is singer, drummer & guitarist Paul Terry's alt-acoustic moniker that he has been writing, recording and performing under since 2003. Fusing haunting vocals with angular drumming, fragile but anthemic guitars, plus, hypnotic orchestrations, Cellarscape songs bristle with an undeniably cinematic presence...
... So it comes as no surprise that Paul has a burgeoning sideline in film soundtracks. These include the recent award-winning horror-comedy 'The Furred Man' (2010) - currently experiencing high praise in several international film festivals; the acclaimed 2006 feature 'The Wake'; the forthcoming 'Queen of Hearts', and the award-winning 2001 short, 'Mightier'. The world-renowned Empire Film Awards also used Paul's film music for their 2009 promo campaign.
Back in 2006, Cellarscape's first release was the 'Copilot' EP ["...songs of desolation that echo with mood and meaning..." - County Times]. Then, 2007's progressive 'Fifth Phoenix' EP followed. From the intense 'A Brief Time Of Bullets', to the yearning harmonies of 'Kerosene' and doomy loops of 'Transition Sickness', Rockworld TV described Cellarscape as "truly a force to be reckoned with."
Current album 'Animation, Suspension' sees Cellarscape go stratospheric. After the deceptively blissed-out intro of 'Crawlspace', this eclectic album's high gear kicks in with the triumphant 'Target Acquired'. The sinister stylings of 'The Creek' and schizophrenic 'You Got The Girl' highlight Cellarscape's love of tonal changes, all the while keeping the music's core emotionally-charged.
With the grinding punch of 'Bled Out', the dark and punishing 'Treading Water' through to vocal-only 'December Moon' and insanely catchy battle-cry pop of 'Minor Fractures', 'Animation, Suspension' commands your attention throughout its 15 unpredictable tracks - something that has garnered glittering critical acclaim from press around the world, including: "Impeccable songwriting. A symphony for today's music lover." (Australia's Awesome Radio); "A diverse range of soundscapes creating a palette of aural delight." (Big Cheese Magazine); "You'll think you've listened to Cellarscape all your life... 15 perfect tracks." (Radio Sonar); "Crushing. Absorbing. Gentle. Uplifting. Relentless. Awesome." (BBC Radio); "Remarkably varied... songs that could've been composed by Metallica or Tears for Fears only increases its wonder." (Daily Music Guide).
With a new EP, 'A Theta/Delta Union' planned for late 2010 / early 2011, and the next full-length Cellarscape record also due out later in 2011 - plus, the soundtrack for 'Queen of Hearts', and the debut of Paul's atmosphere-core heavy project, Ash Tree Lane - it's business as usual, with Paul Terry's music staying as eclectic as ever.

Maya Nova Open CD (2010)
Best of Gladys Knight & The Pips (Legacy) album for sale Bulgarian singer Maya Nova cut her teeth in pop, funk and jazz bands in her native Sofia, before relocating to Singapore in 2002. There, she successfully established her presence on the local jazz scene, in addition to holding the post of Main Study Voice Lecturer at the prestigious La Salle College of the Arts. Open, her debut recording, sees Nova wrapping her vocal chords around a selection of mostly standards, extracting the most out of familiar tunes with her surprising vocal range and uninhibited improvisations.
Nova scats breezily through "Groovin' High," one of trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie's most popular tunes, ably supported by Tan Wei Xiang on Fender Rhodes and the swinging rhythm team of double-bassist Andrew Klein and drummer Tan Boon Gee. Xiang's touch on Rhodes is refreshingly light and the perfect accompaniment to Nova's relaxed delivery on "Upside Down" and Antonio Carlos Jobim's lovely "Dindi".
The singer returns to her roots on "Polegnala E Todora Blues," with an enchanting but all too short snatch of traditional Bulgarian folk song, which segues into an extended blues workout. Nova's strong runs, punctuated by striking high notes, have the excitement of the unexpected, yet flow naturally and melodically, suggesting the influence of Gillespie. Not for nothing did Nova make the semifinals of the Shure Montreux Voice Competition at the 43rd Montreux Jazz festival, in 2009. Nova's scat on Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer's "My Shining Hour" exudes the same boppish freedom, accompanied solely by Klein's plunging, walking bass.
"I'm Old Fashioned," with full trio backing, has much the same feel as "My Shining Hour," perhaps because Mercer's lyrics left their stamp on both songs. The change in combinations, from quartet to duos, with either bass or keyboard, nicely alters the music's texture. Xiang plays something more than a comping role, and steals the show on Kurt Weill's "Speak Low" with a dark-hued, snaking solo.
An original intro of vocals and snare drum colors "You and the Night and the Music," and features telling work from Xiang and Klein. Elsewhere, Nova brings great intimacy and nuance to Dimitri Tiomkin and Ned Washington's ballad, "Wild is the Wind." The title track-the only self-penned number-is effectively an instrumental, with Nova's wordless vocals tracing a melody which could almost have been written for a two- or three-piece brass section.
Open succeeds in being simultaneously tuneful and technically absorbing. It will be interesting to see if Nova develops her own songwriting abilities or if she opts for a more left-field choice of material in the future. In the meantime, this satisfying recording will hopefully introduce a singer of notable skill and natural flair to a wider audience.
