| | Everette Harp First Love CD (2009)
Jazz Moods: Jazz Party Mix - Cocktail Party/Groovin' The Blues songs
$15.09 On FIRST LOVE, contemporary jazz saxophonist and composer Everette Harp moves deeper into the space he addressed on 2007's excellent MY INSPIRATION. Produced by George Duke, the meld of acoustic and electric instruments here is perfectly balanced. Melodic and harmonic structures are much more complex and don't always fit the C-jazz cookie-cutter mold. Check his original "The Council of Nicea," one of the most satisfying things here. Harp's tenor is accompanied by James Genus' acoustic bass, and some spot-on breaks by Terri Lyne Carrington, a beautiful bluesy, hard bop trumpet solo by Michael "Patches" Stewart, and Lenny Castro's hand percussion. Directing the band is Duke on Fender Rhodes with help from the exquisite if understated electric guitar work ...

| | Dru Hill CD (1996)
Jazz Moods: Jazz Party Mix - Cocktail Party/Groovin' The Blues album
$11.99 Dru Hill is a new-jack soul quartet that follows mentor Keith Sweat's lead on its debut album. Paeans to Herculean late-night exploits and calls of soul-cleaning devotion are interspersed over old-fashioned soul licks, delivered with modern R&B technology. At times, as on "Tell Me," the low and high roads to a heart co-mingle in a fashion that would make Prince envious. But Dru Hill seldom reaches the Minneapolitan's funky musical raunch. Instead, Sisqo, Woody, Nokio and Jazz choose to be smooth like butter: all rich harmonies, laid-back finger snaps and synthesized harps.
Additional personnel includes: Triip (rap vocals); Nate-Love, Ralph B. ...
| | Julie London Cry Me A River - Best Of CD (2002) (Import) United Kingdom
Jazz Moods: Jazz Party Mix - Cocktail Party/Groovin' The Blues CD music
$13.59 This best-of collection from Julie London features 18 of her biggest hits.
The three-disc box set Cry Me a River is a budget-line collection including 42 songs, about half from Julie London's prime between 1955 and 1958 and half from her later period between 1963 and1965. Since most of London's songs were at or under the two-minute mark, Disky could almost have fit every track on one CD. Still, there are plenty of coquettish favorites here, including "My Heart Belongs to Daddy," "'S Wonderful," "Love for Sale," "Days of Wine and Roses," "June in January," and the title track. The set also includes many songs rarely seen on Julie London compilations, including her versions of the ...
