Lanterna is the predominantly solo instrumental project of Henry Frayne, an Illinois-based composer who also was an integral part of The Moon Seven Times. Here, delicate guitar-led rock atmospheres create pastoral vistas. ELM STREET is the second outing for Lanterna and features the drumming of Colin Koteles. "B Minor" is reminiscent of The Church's album STARFISH, with an intoxicating road-trip reverb. This song was used in Steven Spielberg's film CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. The delicate vamp sound of "Departures" sends ripples of music outward in undulating echoes. "Old Seattle" is a futurist pun featuring an electronic collage emanating from an ARP synthesizer. Frayne's infectious strumming and picturesque compositional abilities make for an engaging of daydreams while listening to ELM STREET. The compelling instrumental follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album \"Lanterna. \"\"Elm Street\" transcends whatever label one wishes to put upon it. Equally at home in collections of Rock, New Age or Ambient, it is simply an alluring collection of songs suitable for every moment of the day listening. A \'lanterna\" is a magic lantern. In the hands of delay-pedal guitar master Henry Frayne (Moon Seven Times, Area), this Lanterna will light the path into the deep corners of your mind to project road movies in slow motion. Lanterna visits the instrumental vistas that Pell Mell and Scenic have traveled for their music, though Lanterna\'s use of the wild west is more expansive in its splashes of ambient guitar, drums and bass. \"... not content with mere pretty soundscapes, Lanterna conjures a mixed bag of styles, mostly spare, spicy, spacey, quiet, ambient Talk Talk, Pink Floyd moods, but also haunted, saddened spaghetti western and dreampoppy, delay-vistas that clutch one\'s heart strings.\"- Big Takeover

Elm Street album
$6.49 Following the platinum success of SLOWHAND, BACKLESS continued Eric Clapton's transformation into a singer/songwriter with better-than-average chops after a lifetime of guitar godhood. Eschewing the star-studded cameos of NO REASON TO CRY, Clapton instead relied on his core group of the '70s: George Terry, Carl Radle, Jamie Oldaker, Dick Simms and Marcy Levy. Levy in particular, proved her worth by co-writing the slide-drenched "Roll It" with Slowhand. Her passionate ...
| | Prefuse 73 92 vs. 02 Collection CD (2002)
Elm Street CD music
$7.15 Prefuse 73 aka Scott Herren is one of Warp's biggest artists with his debut from 2001 selling steady. This release shows a more self-assured creator expanding his palette and honing his craft. This is creative hip hop for the intelligent and curious.
At first listen, the 92 Vs. 02 EP sounds like Prefuse 73 has gone out to pasture and returned with something altogether new -- and was so excited he found it that he had to show everyone by tossing out this 15-minute recording. Leaving behind a bulk of the frantic, chopped-up samples and frenetic beats that adorned the groundbreaking 2001 full-length, Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives, ...
| | Lanterna Sands CD (2002)
Elm Street music CDs
$11.49 Guitarist Henry Frayne occupies a unique niche in instrumental pop. With a minimalist's discretion, Frayne creates translucent dream-pop atmospheres and open-hearted, major key rock hymns using acoustic and electric guitars, discreet feedback, and reverb. Ambient music fans will appreciate the way Frayne floats textures and tones over sparse percussion and allows melodies to unwind slowly, as in the narcotic "Early August" and "Sands." Pop fans will enjoy the inspiring quality of songs like "West Side Highway" and "Fields," which jangle and shimmer ...

| | Dean Irons Second Chance CD (2003)
Elm Street songs
$17.75 Dean Irons has played the Southern Maine and Seacoast New Hampshire area for over 20 years, first as a drummer in a hard rock '70s band (McBeth) and leading up to his current place as lead guitarist and vocalist in The Dean Irons Band. While his extensive performance experience with various bar bands has deepened his instrumental work and developed his ability to hook an audience into a good time, his life experience has led to heartfelt, layered original songs that any baby boomer who's ever been excited about a long-term romance, made love in a car, or needed a party at the end of the day, can relate to. Dean started as a drummer at the age of 10. Although he never knew his Dad, the elder Irons' musical talent as an instrumentalist has been passed on to Dean. In addition to playing drums, he has become an accomplished guitar and harmonica player, and plays bass and keyboards. When in high school near Exeter, NH, he joined a band to share music with friends and get the girls. (On occasion he stills has the fun of getting together with Kevin Eckert-Smith and Kenny Miles of the Firewater Band.) In the '80s while Dean played rock covers with successive groups, he was also influenced by bluegrass and country jam sessions with his older brother, Henry, who plays banjo and guitar. On Second Chance Dean takes a cue from his successful live shows and transforms his listeners into participants by sharing music that you "feel in your heart and your soles." This is music that will get you moving. "I wanted the song selection on my first CD to reflect my passion for stick-with-you rhythms, clean harmony, and lyrics that people can relate to," says Irons. Dean's guitar work has melded the influences of Steve Miller, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The straight-ahead rock n' roll is often layered with hints of the blues. Add to that his lyrical style that is often emotional, as in "I know I'm Gonna Make It," a song written to his deceased father, and in the angry, "I'm Gettin' Out of Here."Dean wrote this collection of original songs over the past 15 years; recording them between 2000 and 2002. All instruments (guitar, bass, harmonica, drums and keyboards) and vocals are performed by Dean, with fine performances by good friends and family including Jeff Landrock on keyboards (all except I know I'm Gonna Make It and Buckets of Tears), Deb Erickson-Irons on harmony vocals (Keep on Trying, Hold Me Tight, Buckets of Tears, and Never Pretend) and Ted Sink on harmony ...
