 One of my favourites of this year...
It's such a lovely feeling to discover a new musical act that completely engulfs you! Falkenbach play enchanting Viking melodies by combining rock beats, metal guitars, keyboards and flute with vocals that are a mix of Black Metal growls/grunts and clean Viking singing... all arranged by one man: VRATYAS VAKYAS! The music has similarities to Enslaved or even Bathory's "Blood on Ice," with its choir back vocals and overall sound. Tracks like "...When Gjallarhorn will sound," "...Where Blood will soon be Shed" and "The Heathenish Foray" have a stylish attitude, not pummeling you into submission but attempting to put you in awe with its majestic soundscapes. It's a real treat to hear something like this and a very refreshing break from the monotonous black metal that's been filling my ears as of late. This is extreme Viking Metal at it's best!
