MTV UNPLUGGED won the 2002 Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Album By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
Grammy-winning alternative Latin rock threesome La Ley made its first live album in Miami after more than a decade touring Latin America. MTV Unplugged mostly gathers the band's 1990s hits, leaving behind its late-'80s pop/rock style. Recorded at Miami Broadcast Center, Chilean La Ley was joined by bassist Archie Frugone, keyboardist Pete Wallace, and guitarist Toshi Yanagi, among other talented musicians, allowing singer Beto Cuevas, drummer Mauricio Clavería, and guitarist Pedro Frugone to deliver a high-quality acoustic performance, playing for the first time a bolero/pop called "Mentira," crossover hits "Krazyworld" and "The Corridor"; classic "Prisioneros de la Piel" and "El Duelo," performed along with Mexican singer Ely Guerra. ~ Drago Bonacich

THIS IS AN MTV UNPLUGGED CONCERTS, WHICH ADDS MORE VIRTUOSISM TO THEIR PLAY. Submitted by serviciot (SARASOTA, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Very Emotional Music I was pleasantly surprised by LaLey. The music is a joy to listen to, especially since it is unplugged acoustic. I had no idea they were this talented. Their melodies are wonderful and the lead vocals are soothing. If this was not 95% in spanish we would here these guys on every radio station. Intenta Amor and El Duelo are just amazing songs.
Please give these guys a listen you will not be sorry. Submitted by a reviewer (San Francisco, California, U.S.A) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

MTV Unplugged album
$7.29 Rock en Español has become established as a genre, but, in truth, it's just rock music sung in Spanish -- albeit rock covering a lot of territory, from the innovative to the mundane. The problem with La Ley is that they are at the mundane end of the musical spectrum. The trio is simply your average rock band. No one doubts their commitment to what they do and the cause of peace. But while occasional melodies have a reasonable pop quotient, there's nothing to make them stand out from any rock pack anywhere. The spark is missing, at least on this disc, and there's nothing to be done about that, it seems. Songs move from one to another without anything ...

| | Court & Spark Bless You CD (2001)
MTV Unplugged songs
$13.05 The sophomore release from San Francisco's the Court & Spark is an exercise in laconic country-pop, impressive for both its sweeping breadth of sounds and swooning melodies. As a forward-looking Americana band sharing some ground with bands like Lambchop and the Beachwood Sparks while not being nearly as acerbic as the former nor as psychedelic as the latter, the Court & Spark transcend the standard conventions of the genre to emerge with a completely modern product. Like every country-leaning rock band, they have endured comparisons to the Flying Burrito Brothers, whose Gene Parsons contributes vocals, banjo, mandolin, and guitar, but the Court & Spark seem to take such compliments with a certain degree of unease. Where lead vocalist M.C. Taylor has a classic country drawl, dripping with just the right amount of weathered twang, and the use of tremolo guitar, pedal steel, and banjo ensures ...

MTV Unplugged album
$13.15 Street Corners in the 60's, folk clubs of the early 70's, to the bars and honky-tonks, they say this is where he's been, but to those that know him, he's been further than all those journeys combined. Influenced by a time spent with Phil Ochs another with Townes Van Zandt, combined with the free-wheelin' style of Jerry Jeff Walker and the immortal Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Mikel has somehow managed to fuse these together to achieve the sound that is his today.Performing mainly with just his guitar, he weaves a memorable musical experience laced with country that is responsive, reflective yet invigorating. During the 80's, Mikel settled in northern climes and made Whitehorse, Yukon his home, playing the local clubs and festivals throughout the Yukon and Alaska, thus slowing his wandering and allowing him to figure out just where it was he'd been. In the late 80's, he released a six song lp (vinyl) titled, \"No More Trains\". In the early 90's, he was recorded (along with other northern artists) by the CBC on their northern series for a double cd titled, \"Another Day In Paradise\". In `94, he began a project that would have many starts, but, in the spring of `96, he completed, \"the KEY\". This recording reflects as a songwriter, surrounded by the best of Yukon musicians (and there are many to choose from), produced by Juno Award winner Bob Hamilton (Jerry Alfred & The Medicine Beat). In August \'98, while on tour in Ontario, Mikel along with friend and guitarist Kevin Bell, gathered some friends old and new and wandered into SOUNDAROUND Studio in Toronto, owned and operated by Jerry ...
