Calegari:La Resurrezione Di Lazzaro
$9.95 What would happen if members of Savatage decided to write some Christmas songs? Easy: Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This "supergroup" is the brainchild of Jon Oliva and Paul O'Neill (respectively the leader-keyboardist and the producer of Savatage). They hired Al Pitrelli (Asia, Savatage) to play guitars, Robert Kinkel to help with keyboards, John Middleton (also a member of Savatage) on bass, and Jeff Plate on drums. Lead vocals are shared by six vocalists, while some of the backing vocals are handled by Savatage lead singer Zachary Stevens. Christmas Eve and Other Stories is a concept album: all the songs are built as chapters of a book, each telling part of a larger story. The plot here is of a young angel sent down to Earth to find and bring back to the Lord "the one thing that best represents everything good that has been done in the name of this day." The angel's quest takes him all over the world, through Russia and Sarajevo, until he finally hears the prayer of a father. This last piece is the strongest moment on the album and makes for a miniature story within the larger story. It is basically ...

| | The Best Of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere CD (2007)
Calegari:La Resurrezione Di Lazzaro
$10.49 Issued in 2007, this Andrea Bocelli collection presents many of the Italian classical/pop-crossover artist's most memorable vocal performances. Highlights of the compilation include "Sogno" and "Because We Believe," tracks that fully reveal Bocelli's emotive and resonant voice, as well as duets with Celine Dion ("The Prayer," a delicate ballad) and Sarah Brightman (the wistful "Time to Say Goodbye"). While VIVERE may be a bit too concise for diehard Bocelli fans, it serves as a perfect introduction to the beloved singer.
Classical crossover mainstay Andrea Bocelli's first greatest-hits collection to date, released nearly a decade-and-a-half after he made his album debut in 1994, The Best of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere includes many of his best-known songs plus five new recordings exclusive to this compilation. His international breakthrough album, Romanza (1997), is well represented with a few inclusions, including his English-language duet with Sarah Brightman on "Time to Say Goodbye." His most successful album, the classical crossover follow-up effort Sogno (1999), is likewise well represented with a few inclusions, including his English-language duet with Céline Dion on "The ...

Calegari:La Resurrezione Di Lazzaro
$13.95 ONLY RECORDING AVAILABLE TODAY!!Laurel Zucker and Sara Andon present the only recording available of the Mozart Flute Duos, K156 and 157, Opus 75.W.A. Mozart Flute Duos Opus 75Mozart did not compose a great deal for flute in terms of chamber music or flute concertos. Most of his compositions were not published until after his death. The Flute Duos, opus 75, are listed in the Koechel Catalogue as K. Anhang(appendix) 156 & 157. The Koechel Catalogue also states that all six duets in two volumes (heard on this CD) were originally published in 1799 by Andres in Offenbach, Germany, a town outside of Frankfurt. No arranger is listed. The second publication of these flute duos was in 1800 by Simrock in Bonn. The third publication of the Mozart Flute Duos was around 1880 by Zimmermann in Liepzig. It is possible that Johann Christian Strumpf might have been the arranger of these Flute Duos, Opus 75, since Koechel writes that Simrock’s next published piece included twelve duos (based on Mozart’s opera Tito) arranged by Strumpf. Therefore one might assume that Strumpf arranged flute duos, opus 75 as well. The first duo in Volume 1 is based on musical material from Mozart’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, K. 374f; the second duo is based on music from Mozart’s Piano Trio, K. 564; the third duo is based on the music from Mozart’s Sonata for Violin and Piano , K. 454. In Volume 2 of the Flute Duos, opus 75, the fourth flute duo is based on musical material from Mozart’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, K. 374e; the fifth flute duo is based on music from Mozart’s Piano Trio, K. 548; the sixth flute duo is based on material from Mozart’s Piano Trio, K. 496. **material for the program notes were kindly provided by flutist and scholar, Dr. John Bailey.**Gramophone issue December 2007 states \"Zucker shapes everything with lovely gradations of timbre and nuance, and her phrasing keeps the ear mesmerised.\" Laurel Zucker is described by Gramophone Magazine 2003 \"as polished and gratifying as Rampal and Galway. Zucker\'s interpretations are splendid all round. Her tone is airy and sweet, her virtuosity graceful.\" In 2004 Gramophone \"strongly recommended\" The Complete Telemann Fantasies for Flute and The Complete J.S. Bach Flute Sonatas on Cantilena Records describing her performances as \"intelligent, naturally phrased and highly musical with a rich sound beyond reproach.\" In the August 2003 book, Inspirational Stories from the World\'s Best Flute Players, Laurel Zucker is featured along with James Galway, Herbie Mann, Ian Andersen, and Julius Baker. Fanfare Magazine refers to Ms. Zucker \"as a forceful advocate for 20th century music,\" and when she was awarded the Aaron Copland Fund for Music from the American Music Center to record the 1998 Take a Walk on the Wilder Side-CD, Fanfare Magazine stated \"this disc fills an important niche in American Music as well as flute literature.\" With 45 CD releases available on Cantilena Records, Ms. Zucker can be heard regularly on worldwide classical radio stations. She has performed many times in Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Mondavi Center, ...
