Tan Dun (born 1957) is a Chinese classical composer whose works comingle Chinese classical and folk music with modern (post-1950) Western classical elements and forms. Not so incidentally, Dun composed the music for the acclaimed movie CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON from 2000. MARCO POLO is his opera from 1997, with words by Paul Griffiths and singing by Stephen Bryant, Alexandra Montano, and Susam Botti.
