5 stars Oppisite of disipointing.
I wish this label would start putting their artist's out. This cd got me all pumped up for the debut of alot of solo's that never came. But anyways though... this cd has some uniquely violent tracks that confirm full five star authorization.

Like volume one of this series, this 25-song compilation assembles soul rarities from the Modern and Kent sister labels, these selections dating from the mid-'60s through the early '70s. The Kent/Modern operation wasn't a major force in soul music -- not nearly as much as it had been in rhythm and blues in the late '40s and 1950s -- and this isn't the top of the label's soul barrel by any means. The tracks here (seven of them previously unreleased) are mid-level-at-best soul, lacking in big names even by cult favorite standards, though Johnny Copeland, Arthur K. Adams, and Mary Love all have their followings among blues and soul collectors. The disc does reflect most of the major trends in soul during the period, with the exception of the gritty Southern varieties of the genre. Yet there's nothing in the way of first-rate songs, though there's plenty in the way of energetic emulation of sounds that were setting the charts alight for other labels. It would be a lot harder to pick on, admittedly, if you were hearing these singly instead of all at once, where the lack of anything outstandingly original becomes wearisome. Still, a couple of tracks ask for it -- Felice Taylor sounds like Diana Ross with a bad cold on "Captured Your Love," and the Sweethearts' "No More Tears" is close enough to the Supremes' "Stop! In the Name of Love" that it comes dangerously close to crossing the border from emulation to plagiarism. If nothing else, much of the rest of the CD is likewise a reminder of how pervasive Motown's influence was in this era, though some of the sourly off-key horn charts would have never passed through that label's quality control meetings. As for the more interesting detours taken from that tributary, the Styles' "I Know You Know That I Know" is very much in the Philly soul mold of a group like the Delfonics, and is one of the better songs here, though Trini Lopez's early pop-rock-soul oddity "Sinner Not a Saint" (written by future Who/Kinks producer Shel Talmy) is a bad fit in these surroundings. No offense taken at the service this compilation provides for fanatic soul collectors who are looking to find anything they can, but it's definitely not one of the better such compilations of little-exposed music in the style. ...

Collectors' King Crimson, Vol. 10
Collectors' King Crimson, Vol. 10 CD  (2006) Japan; Box Set; Special Edition

Kami Kaze music CDs
CD $151.39
6-disc set, includes 'Live In Warsaw, 2000'(Discs 1 & 2), 'Live In Heidelberg, 1974', 'Live In Brighton, 1971'(Discs 1 & 2), and 'Live In Asbury Park, 1974'. Repackaged in this box are four live King Crimson concerts that were initially unleashed via the band's Collectors' Club mail-order series or as à la carte downloadable files. Granted, the primary target for anthologies such as this is not the casual enthusiast or curious listener. However, that unspoken guideline should be suspended for 2006's The Collectors' King Crimson, Vol. 10 due to the remarkable breadth of its contents. Taken chronologically, Live in Brighton is an audience-derived recording of the 1971 Islands-era band with Boz Burrell (bass, lead vocals), Robert Fripp (guitar, Mellotron), Mel Collins (saxes, flute, Mellotron), and Ian Wallace (drums, vocals). Drawing heavily upon the aforementioned Islands, they perform practically the entire platter -- sans Fripp's classically informed string arrangement "Prelude: Song of the Gulls." They throw out a few scant manifestations from earlier incarnations -- such as the raucous albeit somewhat obligatory "21st Century Schizoid Man" circa In the Court of the Crimson King, "Cirkus" from Lizard, and a particularly pungent workout of the instrumental "Groon" -- the B-side to the 45-rpm edit of the In the Wake of Poseidon entry "Cat Food." The pair of 1974 sets -- Live in Heidelberg and Live in Asbury ...

Jah Roots Crucial CD  (2007)

CD $17.09  Top 500
Crucial is the most recent release in a string of excellent reggae albums by Jah Roots. An explosively good vibe is packed in this little CD. Pop it into the player, and the syncopated island jams bury their way into your head. For all the classic Reggae fans who love Bob Marley and the like, many tracks such as "Secrets", and "Fight Down We Chalwa" exhibit a similarly classic Reggae sound. For those who are looking for a new sound, tracks like the title track "Crucial" and "Good Highs" have great reggae rhythms infused with vocal influences from Hip-Hop and Ska. The disc also very tastefully contains heart felt message ...
