Steven Halpern pioneered the study and use of sound as a healing modality and has been producing sound-healing records since the 1970s. On his signature album, CHAKRA SUITE, Halpern utilizes pure electric piano tones, chimes, synthesizer overtones and, on one track, Tibetan singing bowls to create a pure sonic background for healing.
Each of the first seven selections is built around a single keynote, which corresponds to a different chakra or energy center in the body. The gentle cascade of notes "tunes" the targeted chakra, inspiring a feeling of alignment and well-being. These seven short pieces made their first appearance on Halpern's 1975 debut, SPECTRUM SUITE, and are heard here in both their original form (just Fender Rhodes piano) and with synthesizer enhancements. The other tracks employ simple drones and overtones that aim for an all-over relaxation. Whether chakras play a role in your belief system or not, the music soothes and relaxes, and makes the perfect accompaniment to meditation, massage, yoga or even stress-free dining. CHAKRA SUITE is literally a tonic for the whole being.
Includes liner notes by Steven Halpern and Larry Dossey, MD.NAPRA Review (03-04/02, p.85) - "... Harmoniously entrains the body's vibrations into balance, reduces stress, and moves one toward a place of greater serenity..." Steven Halpern Chakra Suite Songs Chakra Suite Review

$8.25 Seedy GonzalesJohnny Riley - vocalsJason Orans - guitar, vocalsBrian Devine - drums, vocalsJack Devine - guitar, bass, everything elseThe Story of Seedy, Part One: The Seedy Gonzales EPThere are serial killers, serial novels, serial poets-and now with the Seedy Gonzales self-titled debut EP, a serial record with a little bit of killer (of time, anyway), novelist and poet among its five tracks. The first of a two-part series, Seedy Gonzales embodies a laid-back "downtown" vibe, a literate-but-not-literal look at city life through the eyes of a sad, cheeky poet. It is, to be sure, exactly what you'd expect from "a cranky ex-pat writer from Prague [singer Johnny Riley] who sings like Lou Reed" and "a New York filmmaker who sings like Lou Barlow [singer-guitarist Jason Orans]."Riley, Orans and drummer Brian Devine met in Los Angeles while they were all working in the film industry. After losing touch for some years, Devine and Orans discovered they had both relocated to NYC. Devine was playing in his other project, Spanish Speaking Psychics with his cousin Jack; Orans and Riley were co-writing songs across the Atlantic while Riley observed a self-imposed exile in the Czech Republic. When Riley came ...
| | Klaus Schulze Miditerranean Pads CD (1990)
Chakra Suite album
$14.29 If you're afraid of commitment, Miditerranean Pads might not be for you. To get the music's full effect, it is recommended that you turn off the lights, fire up a big candle (a lava lamp'll do in a pinch), and let Klaus Schulze's kaleidoscopic arrangements weave their magic. But -- and here's where the commitment part comes in -- the disc runs just over 70 minutes, which might tax the limits of the novice navel-gazer. Fortunately, the music commands attention, consuming the senses immediately rather than slowly adding elements for the first minute or two. Schulze's earlier work has often seemed aloof, so listeners may be surprised to find themselves heavily invested in "Decent Changes." The percussion powers the music like a steam engine designed by Maurits ...

The unmistakable voice of Ralph Stanley lays out some hellfire and brimstone on the a cappella "Listen to the Shepherd," Norman and Nancy Blake implore listeners to keep on "The Sunny ...
| | Wounded Buffalo Theory Red CD (2007)
Chakra Suite music CDs
$16.45 Wounded Buffalo Theory is an experimental apocalypse rock band out of Brooklyn, NY consisting of Jay Cowit, Rob Malko, Justin Wood, and Lucas Shine. The band is currently playing shows in support of Green, in addition to searching for regional and national representation in the hopes of further taking WBT on the road to locations around the country. Long fans of free music distribution, the band constantly updates woundedbuffalotheory.net with new downloads, pictures, setlists, and other info. The band can be reached for any reason at woundedbuffalotheory@gmail . Formed in 2002 by Cowit (drums/vocals), Malko (bass/vocals/keyboards), John Blanton (guitar/vocals) and Mark Wise (guitar), WBT was spawned from a collective desire to create intelligent, beautiful, raging, and diverse music in both the live setting and in the studio. WBT's early days saw a penchant for intense live showmanship, often playing 3 hour shows with no break, not repeating setlists at any show, and offering a wide array of originals (and a few ironic covers) that made for a unique gig experience. As the band grew, more emphasis was placed on solid songwriting that would last longer in the listener's mind than the last notes of the ...
