The Winter & Winter reissue of POINT OF VIEW contains all the original artwork from the LP release and is packaged in a CD-Smart-Pac (a hard-backed slipcase).
Lonnie Plaxico (acoustic & electric basses); Mark Johnson (drums).
Digitally remastered by Adrian Von Ripka (Bauer Studios, Ludwigsburg).
Cassandra Wilson's debut as a leader features the chance-taking singer in a funky M-Base setting. The overcrowded ensembles (played by altoist Steve Coleman, trombonist Grachan Moncur III, guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly, bassist Lonnie Plaxico, and drummer Mark Johnson) did not leave much space for a singer, but the flexible Wilson did her best to find a role for her voice, and she sounds enthusiastic. In addition to group originals, the sextet performs "Blue in Green" (which has Wilson's lyrics) and "I Wished on the Moon." ~ Scott Yanow
Recorded at Systems Two, Brooklyn, New York in December 1985.
Personnel: Cassandra Wilson (vocals); Steve Coleman (alto saxophone, percussion); Grachan Moncur III (trombone); Jean-Paul Bourelly (guitar)Mojo (Publisher) (12/01, p.126) - "...Courageous..." Cassandra Wilson Point Of View Songs Point Of View Review

| | Randevyn Soltrain CD (2005)
Point Of View music CDs
$9.35 Biography"RANDEVYN." Does this name sound familiar? Not yet. This vocal heavyweight and self-proclaimed "soul singer" - as the intro to the much anticipated debut release SolTrain proclaims - brings a new flare to urban music. While he comes from a long line of singers and musicians, he's determined to be the first success story of his family. He credits a plethora of vocal trail blazers such as Stevie Wonder, Peter Cetera, Donnie Hathaway, Sting and Kim Burrell for influencing his style. This southern-fried choirboy made his world premiere in Newport News, Virginia. Randevyn was already making a name for himself in local churches by the time he was 13. While in high school - where he led and directed the inspirational choir - he was introduced to the late Rev. James Moore. Moore was so impressed with the potential he saw in young Randevyn that he took him under his wings and nurtured his musical gift. As a result of this relationship, he became a lead tenor for Stellar Award-winning Joe Pace and the Colorado Mass Choir. However, Randevyn's musical soul soon became restless and he answered the call of urban music mecca, Atlanta, Georgia. In just two short years, his list of credits reads like a "Who's Who in Music." In addition to sharing the stage with such greats as India.Aire, Floetry, and Bilal, he's also done background work for Ludacris, and producers Jazze Pha, Rodney Jerkins, and LaShon Daniels. While ...

| | Lynch & Knill Eyes Wide Open CD (2004)
Point Of View CD music
$17.09 Review " Marcus Mosely " One of Canada's top Gospel / Stage entertainers. Just finished listening to "Eyes Wide Open." The first thought that comes to mind is... "I guess that I know the answer to the question 'I wonder what kind of music Lennon would be making if he were still alive?'" Pure classic Rock N Roll with passion, vision, anger and a seasoned measure of compassion. Music and lyric merge to paint vivid images that speak to our humanity; that question injustice and human loss. Then in the midst of the storm we are reminded of what is most important... Love Sweet Love. And at the end, the indomitabilty of the human spirit in the face of life's adversities is embodied in Carry On. I am proud to add this CD to my collection of, what I call, important music of my generation. Bio InformationEyes Wide Open is the new CD of original material from writing /producing duo John Knill and John Lynch. The duo has co-produced several CDs for other artists in recent years, working out of Knill's DreamMaker Studio, but is the first colaboration of their own music. John ...
