Backstage Pass review
$9.09 Additional personnel includes: Mike E. Clark (various instruments, programming); Rich Murrel (guitar); Eric Hoegemeyer (drums); Twiztid, The Ninja From Millennium Studios, The Rude Boy, Vampiro, The News Guy, Paper Tiger.
In an act of eccentricity usually reserved for artists with a more defined history, Insane Clown Posse released two albums with the same title, a slightly different spelling the only difference between the two (both spellings grammatically incorrect).
Insane Clown Posse are to rap music what Gwar are to rock and roll. Taken too seriously, the whole point is lost. Above the sometimes-pseudo Prince grooves of BIZZAR, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope repeatedly take their lyrics to graphic extremes that even their sworn enemy Eminem has yet to tread on. In "Radio Stars," ICP parody a series of desperate attempts at success showing that this demented duo aren't above self-deprecation.
One-man band Mike E. Clark continues his role as musical mastermind behind ICP, laying down neo-funk grooves and beats while the makeup-clad Clowns attend to the task of offending anyone and everyone in their path on BIZAAR. "Fearless" makes reference to late comedian Sam Kinison in a less than tasteful manner, while "Rainbows & Stuff" features Detroit's own Paper Tiger contributing some chunky guitar riffing.
Additional personnel includes: Rich Murrel (vocals, guitar); Mike E. Clark (various instruments, programming); Esham, Jamie Madrox, The Rude Boy, The News Guy, Lo Dogg, Fuck Face, Jennifer McDonald, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Jamie Lowry, Alex Abbiss, Florida Joe, Deb Agoli.

| | Insane Clown Posse - Six Jokerz: Unauthorized DVD (2001)
Backstage Pass DVD
$14.45 A scarier, more hip-hop version of KISS about twenty years after that band's reign, Detroit's face-painting rap rockers Insane Clown Posse have achieved a cult success so widespread that it could nearly be called mainstream. The Posse's members, who include Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, specialize in offensive, obscene lyrics and affinity for the over-the-top antics of professional wrestling. SIX JOKERZ is an unauthorized look at this controversial band's career, ...

| | Insane Clown Posse Forgotten Freshness, Vol. 3 CD (2001)
Backstage Pass video
$11.75 This is part of Psychopathic Records "Forgotton Freshness" series.
For those of you out there who don't take ICP seriously, don't worry; they don't regard themselves very seriously either, as the loopy, often-humorous feel of this disc clearly points out. This release offers 16 tracks of ICP's previously unreleased material. Despite the heavy-handed rap style and the sparsely sprinkled crunching guitar, the lyrics are spouted in a free-spirited, light-hearted manner, dulling the sharp edges with a nice dose of fun. The tracks vary widely from the Three G Mafia-fronted, straight-out rap "Just Another Crazy Click," to the hard rocking "Take It!," the Scottish-tinged "Fly Away," and the acoustic ballad "Take Me Home." This eclecticism makes for a dizzying melange, but for a compilation album, that's not really an issue. FORGOTTEN FRESHNESS VOL. 3 is mostly meant for hardcore fans of the crazy clowns, but anyone looking for a good introduction to the far- out, raucous stylings of ICP could use this disc.
