While Best of Trance, Vol. 2 may not live up to its name completely, it does collect more trance favorites from some of the genre's leading lights, including Sonique's "It Feels So Good," Acension's "Someone," and DJ Skribble and Anthony Acid's remix of Olive's "I'm Not in Love." Anyone who dismissed a-ha as a one-hit wonder must have missed out on the band's fine debut, Hunting High and Low. Though the band spawned many further hits across the rest of the world, "Take on Me" exploded in the States and the group never cracked the top of the charts again. It's a shame, because the album contains a handful of songs that nearly match the manic energy and emotional crack of its big hit. This is Montreal-based Deadbeat aka Scott Monteith's fourth full-length release on the ~scape label. Since the release of his previous outing, New World Observer in March 2005, Monteith has spent the vast majority of his time on the road, honing his skills as a master craftsman of genre defying electronic dance music.
