DEJAME ENTRAR won the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album.
DEJAME ENTRAR won the 2002 Latin Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Tropical Album. "Dejame Entrar" won for Best Tropical Song.
On 2001's Grammy-winning DEJAME ENTRAR, Colombian performer Carlos Vives presents a dynamic set of songs in the Vallenato folk style, which draws heavily on Caribbean influences. Whether leading his band through vibrant upbeat numbers (the uplifting title track) or more reflective tunes (the pensive "Santa Elegia"), the former telenovela star always lets his expressive vocals shine through, resulting in one of his finest releases. Carlos Vives Dejame Entrar Songs Dejame Entrar Music Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) Vives rocks Vives is at his best on this cd. His blend of several different latin musical styles should suit many fans of latin music. This is a good dance cd.

Dejame Entrar album
$9.89 EL AMOR DE MI TIERRA was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Performance.
EL AMOR DE MI TIERRA won the 2001 Billboard Latin Music Award for Male Tropical/Salsa Album of the Year.
What do you get when a telenovela (Latino soap opera) star blends old-school vallenato and other traditional Colombian music with a little pop and some edgy rock & roll? A vibrant, earthy music that makes the heart warm with gladness and the impossibility of remaining seated. Sung like little narratives, these are image-rich songs of love, passion, celebration, and a staying affection for one's land of origin.
The title track praises the natural beauties of Vives' rural home to the welcome sounds of his usual accordion player, Egidio Cuadrado. "Fruta Fresca" recalls the urgent passion ...
| | Marc Anthony CD (1999)

$8.99 "I Need To Know" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
"Dimelo" was nominated for the 2000 Latin Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and won the 2000 Latin Grammy Award for Record Of The Year. "De La Vuelta" was nominated for Best Tropical Song.
"You Sang To Me" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
Marc Anthony has hopped on a shiny new pop music train with his self-titled English debut. While longtime fans won't find much of the salsa here that they've always known him for, there's still plenty of continuity in the fact that he's as fine a singer as ever and a sure romantic. Then again, Marc Anthony has always been about putting his own spin on his roots, so would-be critics should be warned--he won't be tied down.
The single "I Need to Know," with its pulsing salsa horns and piano, was a ubiquitous item on mainstream radio that clearly rode the fast waters of the Latin floodgate opened by Ricky Martin and others. "That's Okay" delves a bit deeper into the clave, while the plaintive "How Could I" combines the fluid fire of Spanish guitar with soft, slow-jam programming. A sweet pop nugget, "You Sang ...
| | Shirley Horn I Remember Miles CD (1998)
Dejame Entrar music CDs
$12.39 I REMEMBER MILES won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.
This stunning album is Shirley Horn's loving tribute to her friend and colleague, the legendary late Miles Davis. Davis was so taken by Horn's first album EMBERS AND ASHES that he forced The Village Vanguard to let her virtually-unknown trio open for him during his 1961 run there. Their friendship and admiration for each other's music lasted through the years, and Shirley Horn's 1991 recording YOU WON'T FORGET ME, was one of the last recordings Miles Davis made.
Horn selected mostly ballads from Davis' Columbia Records catalogue for her tribute because, as she explains in the liner notes, Davis liked her to sing ballads, and ballads are Horn's specialty. She can slow down time in a unique and spellbinding ...
| | Shakira Laundry Service CD (2001)
Dejame Entrar songs
$8.49 Though she was already a star in the Latin pop world, Shakira broke through to the international mainstream in 1998 with DONDE ESTAN LOS LADRONES, followed up by a live UNPLUGGED album. Thus, her next studio effort, 2001's LAUNDRY SERVICE, played a pivotal role in the budding pop diva's career. Not one to disappoint, Shakira made LAUNDRY SERVICE a career milestone. As such, the album earned a 2002 reissue where it was accompanied by a bonus CD with a video and a live track, and also featured a remix of the smash "Whenever, Wherever" as well as a couple of alternate versions of other tracks from the album. In itself, LAUNDRY SERVICE as Shakira's countless fans have come to know and love it, is a brash, personality-filled mixture of Latin pop with distinctly Alanis-like angry-young-woman rock, along with a smattering of R&B and hip-hop production moves thrown in. It all adds up to perhaps the definitive-to-date release from this fetching young star.

| | Juanes Un Dia Normal CD (2002)
Dejame Entrar album
$6.69 "A Dios Le Pido" won the 2002 Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
UN DIA NORMAL won the 2003 Latin Grammy Awards for Album Of The Year and won for Best Rock Solo Vocal Album. "Es Por Ti" won for Record Of The Year and for Song Of The Year. "Mala Gente" won for Best Rock Song. The album was also nominated for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.
Refusing to play the Latin pop crossover game, Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes returns with UN DIA NORMAL, a second solo album sung entirely in Spanish that manages to kick the idea of sophomore jinx square in the jewels. Teaming up with Rock En Espanol production kingpin Gustavo Santaolalla, the former Ekhymosis frontman delivers a pleasing fusion of folkloric and contemporary pop-rock nuances ranging from the jangly nugget "Desde Que Despierto" and rock steady cadence of "La Paga" to the crisply delivered vallenato "Luna." Other highlights include the crisp shuffle "Luna," bossa-nova-kissed "Es Por Ti," and infectious cumbia-infused "A Dios Le Pido" (which earned Juanes a Latin Grammy for Best Rock Song).
About the only concession Juanes makes to courting ...

| | Sunn O Flight Of The Behemoth CD (2002)
Dejame Entrar album
$11.99 Sunn's first two discs, The Grimmrobe Demos and 00 Void, established the group's droning, bass-heavy "power ambient" doom style and showed that the bandmembers had spent plenty of time listening to and learning from their Earth records. With Flight of the Behemoth, they begin with that same basic foundation (in fact, the first two tracks are impossible to distinguish from ones on their earlier albums), but for the first time also branch out to create something new, something that goes beyond any sort of mere Earth worship. This is partially true of the last track, "F.W.T.B.T.," which employs a drummer and a vocalist for the first time on any Sunn recording, but more so on the third and fourth ones, "O))) Bow 1" and "O))) Bow 2." Given the once-over by special guest mixer/legendary noise artist Merzbow, Sunn's hypnotic, slow-as-molasses ...
