| | Very Best Of This Is Acid Jazz: A 10 Year Celebration CD (1 Customer Review)
The Very Best of This Is Acid Jazz: A 10 Year Celebration finds Instinct Records digging deep into its archive of This Is Acid Jazz compilations to assemble this double-disc best-of. The first disc focuses on the years 1991-1996 and collects all the classics -- tracks like Exodus Quartet's "What's That" that helped jump-start the acid jazz movement. The second disc compiles songs from the years 1997-2001, featuring well-known tracks like United Future Organization's "Somewhere" and Jimpster's "Topics in Groove." If you've always been curious about this long-running series of albums, this best-of is the perfect place to begin. It sorts through the clutter for you. However, if you already own a number of the This Is Acid Jazz compilations, you might want to hold off on this best-of since it reprises the best songs from those albums rather than presents new music. ~ Jason Birchmeier

Very Best Of This Is Acid Jazz: A 10 Year Celebration
$8.99 A collection largely consisting of remixes of tracks from the 2005 album HAU RUCK, RUCK ZUCK finds KMFDM stretching out a bit from its patented pile-driving industrial-rock sound. Here "Free Your Hate" emerges as a stuttering, sample-heavy squall, and "Mini Mini Mini" is creatively reworked as an unlikely big-band number, proving that the veteran German band still has a few new tricks up its nihilistic sleeve. A companion EP to KMFDM's 2005 album Hau Ruck, Ruck Zuck collects a number of remixes mostly created by the bandmembers themselves. Not all of the tracks sound radically different from the versions found on the original album: some more prominent electronica elements here, a little bit more crunch there ("Free Your Hate" sounds grittier than the album version). The feel is largely the same, even though the mixes sound a bit tidied up this time around, and, as is often the case with such remix enterprises, the added electronic parts sometimes ...
