Praise music from the later part of the 20th century was infused with many of the same musical ideas and instruments that easy listening music was known for. This hybrid of the two genres became the norm, as songs like "Shine Jesus Shine" and "El Shadai" became popular in Christian music. 16 Great Praise & Worship Classics, Vol. 3 is a perfect showcase for this new style of praise music, filled with low-key arrangements, lush keyboards, and passionate singing. Despite the catchiness of many of the tracks, the performers suffer from the bland sameness that hangs over the genre. Fans of Christian music will probably enjoy it just for collecting so many popular praise songs on one album, but this will not translate well to a secular audience. ~ Bradley Torreano 16 Great Praise & Worship Classics 3 Music 16 Great Praise & Worship Classics 3 Songs | 1. | All Things Are Possible | |

| | Whitney Houston I Look To You CD (2009)
16 Great Praise & Worship Classics 3
$10.69 Despite her star having lost some of its luster in the 2000s, Whitney Houston is still regarded as a benchmark for modern singers of all stripes (from soulful divas to would-be pop idols). Almost seven years in the making, 2009's I LOOK TO YOU marks a music industry homecoming for the singer. Supported by a mob of A-list producers and songwriters including Diane Warren, David Foster, R. Kelly, Alicia Keys, and many more, Houston's vocals are in fine form on material ranging from hip-hop-tinged contemporary R&B ("Million Dollar Bill") to `70s covers (Leon Russell's "A Song for You") to adult contemporary torch songs ("I Look to You"). It's only been seven years between Just Whitney and 2009's I Look to You, not even Houston's longest time between albums, but it feels much, much longer, her glory days obscured in hazy memories of lost luster chiefly deriving from a bad marriage with Bobby Brown, chronicled in an embarrassing reality show for Bravo in 2004. I Look ...

16 Great Praise & Worship Classics 3
$17.55 2006 digitally remastered version of this 1967 solo album by Mayall without his Bluesbreakers featuring two bonus tracks: 'Brand New Start' (First Version) and 'Marsha's Mood' (First Version). Universal.
Personnel: John Mayall (vocals, 6- & 9-string guitars, harmonica, piano, celeste, organ, bass, drums); Keef Hartley (drums). Recorded at Decca Studios, West Hempstead, England in May 1, 1967. Originally released on London (PS 534). The Blues Alone was the first Mayall "solo" album (without the Bluesbreakers). Mayall played and overdubbed all instruments except drums, which were handled by Bluesbreaker Keef Hartley. The album also tried to serve notice that, despite his band being a spawning ground for several British stars by now, the real star of the group was its leader. But it didn't quite prove that, since Mayall, while certainly competent on harmonica, keyboards, and guitars, doesn't display the flair of an Eric Clapton or Peter Green, and the overdubbing, as is so often the case, robs the recording of any real sense of interplay. ~ William Ruhlmann With a release coming only two months after Crusade, The Blues Alone, the first Mayall "solo" album (i.e. without The Bluesbreakers), was John Mayall's ...
