As Friends Rust: Damien Moyal (vocals); Joe Simmons, Chris Beckham (guitar); Tom Hankine (bass); Zack Swain (drums). Recorded in July 2001. Personnel: James Paul Wisner (vocals, guitar); Damien Moyal (vocals). Recording information: Landmark Productions (07/2001). Editors: Dean Dydek; James Paul Wisner . After undergoing member changes and an enormous amount of time between releases, As Friends Rust finally seems to have put out something fulfilling, a ten-song CD on Doghouse Records entitled Won. Having calmed down a little from their overtly hardcore beginnings, this five-piece seems to fall on the musical table somewhere between Samiam, Stretch Arm Strong, and Hot Water Music. The label suggests them as a cross between Dag Nasty and Turning Point, and that could be seen viable as well. Keeping the hardcore melodic is important to these guys, as there are backing vocals that are actually vocals and not screaming. This lineup has played together in various other forms, including Culture and Bird of Ill Omen, so their music is just about as tight as can be. The one slight negative point of the album is that occasionally the lyrics get cheesy and annoying ("This Is Me Hating You," "Last Call"). Nevertheless, As Friends Rust made a pretty catchy record without losing their harder edge. Won is definitely a winner. ~ Kurt MorrisAlternative Press (2/02, p.68) - 7 out of 10 - "...Mingles elements of hardcore, metal and even pop-punk into a startlingly cohesive collection..." $11.29 Like the original, ONLY BUILT 4 CUBAN LINX, PART 2 sets the stage with the intro, but here, it's some Raekwon history courtesy of Papa Wu. On Part 1 it was fictional dialog introducing a loose concept album. Besides the introductory dialog and the album's look-a-like cover--tinted purple, as if it was a Cash Money, Screwed & Chopped mix of Part 1--the only traits this sequel shares with the original LINX is that it's the Wu-rapper in top form, spitting out rhymes worthy of the Wu logo and pushing his guest list to work harder, as evidenced ...

$15.19 Six-String Radiothe new record from Route Five recording artistGuy-Michael Grande Hello fellow music makers and music lovers. I've got a brand new record to share and want to let you know all about it. Please feel free to listen to my song clips here and let me know what you think. Here's a bit of background in case you're curious...I wanted to make an honest record. As a solo performer, I don't currently have a band: it's just me and my acoustic guitar out there live. A full-time performing singer-songwriter, Six-String Radio is my third record.I'm still proud of my first two independent releases, each made with the best players I could afford in the best studios available at the time. I love playing with a band because I'm a pop/rock baby down to my soul, and I love folk and country, whose flavors are undeniably present in my songs. But even given those influences, labels and genres don't really matter much to me when I'm making music. Since writing and performing songs is my calling, it doesn't get any more genuine than seeing and hearing me live. That's what Six-String Radio is: twelve live takes, mistakes and all, just like any of my performances -- an honest record. No Pro-Tools, no vocal tuning, no drum machines or click tracks. We recorded it at a humble place called Freaktown Heights -- not an official studio by any stretch of the imagination -- and then we were fortunate to have Toby Mountain master it at his place, Northeastern Digital. Summer 2006 marked 30 years since I first picked up a guitar as a seven-year-old kid. Since my last record was released, my live concert calendar has become steadier and I've really been taken with music from masters like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles and Willie Nelson -- four artists who knew a thing or two about the beauty of economy and simplicity in song. These days, I play as much as I can to earn a living, and often, that involves covering other artists. The five covers featured on Six-String Radio are songs I love, songs I've tried to make my own. Songs I perform nearly every night I play live. They include: U2's"Where The Streets Have No Name"John ...
