"Year of the Cat," has always been Al Stewarts's most satisfying album, and this new remaster makes it more satisfying than ever. If you've been longing for a great sounding CD of this title, this is definitely the one to buy!

If you're buying this cd for the two bonus tracks, think again; however, the 10 minute monologue explaining the origin and meaning of the songs was a definite bonus. But, what makes this a 5 star release is the remastered sound. It is shocking how good it is, and makes me wonder why past remastered versions don't measure up, as well as what the future may hold. This cd sounds better than 90% of the Mobile Fidelity releases I've heard. You will hear musical details you've never heard before, and many a musical passage will give you goosebumps (the violin in "Broadway Hotel" for starters). This cd is a must for any Al Stewart fan, or even if you only liked this particular record. And, if you are an audiophile with a stereo system worth $10K or more, you need this cd to show off your system. Plus, this cd will become a measuring stick for all future "remastered cd's." Speaking of the future, why not remaster "Past, Present and Future" too!

Al Stewart's, "Year of the Cat", sound as fresh today as it did in 1976. One would have hoped for more bonus tracks, given todays 80 minute CDs, but this CD is a treat anyway. Al Stewart should have been a Traveling Wilbury.

||A Classic Album|
I had this on vinyl back in the 70's and only now have purchased it as a CD. I'm glad I bought the import version as the sound truly is great. It was a long time without listening to this music, but once Lord Grenville started up, it all came back to me. There are some CDs that I can't just listen to a few songs - once started, I have to listen to the whole thing. This is one of those CDs. Just great musicianship.
