For a cinema film to be taken seriously, no-one's going to win fans by starting things off with a 'made for TV'-style 70s opening and following that with static, staged camerawork straight out of a Roy Rogers-level matinee Western. Pants.

A slow movie in parts, very inaccurate.... the sniper scene was the best in the movie. Robert Mitchum did a great job.... Peter Falk was hard to accept in his role.

i think your led to believe there is lots of action in this movie but it ends up mostly about a handful of men trying to make it bk to saftey. i wasnt impressed.

||not your typical war movie|
A thoughtful rendering of a near-disaster. In World War I, the Turks had their "world's largest self-sustaining POW camp" at Gallipoli, in World War II, the Germans had theirs at Anzio. Fortunately, the GIs and tommies had their own ideas of what had to be done, and the rest, as they say, is history. Another must-have for the history and war buff.

||Top Talent poor script|
The movie was dissapointing with weapon innacuracies (Germans and Americans with Mk 111 Enfields)lack of any real drama and you could see everything coming long before it happened. The sleeping in the wire incident was pathetic. kennedy was a long way from the Glass Manajory and Mitchum walked through it just like a continuation of the opening scene.
