Lowrider Oldies: Cruisin Chrome Series Vol. 4 album
$15.15 Marrying the studied grooves of thoughtful rockers Tangerine Dream with the intelligent pacing of film director Michael Mann (HEAT) worked wonders on the 1981 movie THIEF, and the soundtrack is included here in its entirety.
Tangerine Dream scored director Michael Mann's film debut, Thief (released as "Violent Streets" outside of the U.S. market), adding their patented pulses, blips and whooshes to the film's highly stylized visual scenes. While TD's electronic music is a natural fit for soundtracks, it doesn't bring out the best in the band; for the most part, this soundtrack contains swatches of a larger canvas, building up a small head of steam in the span of four or five minutes but not raising the musical discussion above the level of mere mechanical chitchat. Most of the songs follow a set pattern, with Chris Franke slurring his sequencers under a thin fog of synthesizers, topped by a piercing and pithy melody. An engaging melody on "Beach Theme" makes it one of the album's ...

Most are instrumental, though vocals appear to take mild to strong roles once in a while; all were previously released save a previously unissued extended take of "Twilight Walk" and a previously unissued alternate of "Ez-Zee." Rene was a good keyboardist and a sideman of note on the Los Angeles R&B/early ...

Lowrider Oldies: Cruisin Chrome Series Vol. 4 music CDs
$12.69 Dias grew up between the redwoods and the ocean, in one of the few cultural Mecca's between San Francisco and Portland - the county of Humboldt, in the far reaches of Northern California. His father, a longtime songwriter and performer, mentored Dias when he picked up his first two instruments: the bass at age 9, and the guitar at age 10. The young talent started writing songs immediately following his introduction to the guitar, and was performing live with his father by age 11. In high school Dias connected with some musicians, who formed a band called Still Risen. 'We played a lot of school events and later through annual festivals,' Dias said. 'When outlets or venues for our music dried up, we created our own, throwing massive parties for our young fans sometimes bringing in more than 500 people. We were always highly motivated to play, we had to be in a place as small as Humboldt County personal drive is a must.' Still Risen was the only band in approximately 30 years to play at the junior prom. After high school, Dias emerged as one of Humboldt County's youngest and most talented Blues & Rock guitarist playing bars by age 19. By age 22 Dias decided it was time to venture out. He packed his things and moved to Austin Texas were he performed for over year. Upon his return from Austin Dias decided to shift his focus to writing and producing. Before long Dias opened Littlebird 54 Studios a full service recording studio it was here he Co Wrote & Produced his first top 40 song To Love You Co written and produced by Dias it charted thorough ...
