Off the Wall was a massive success, spawning four Top Ten hits (two of them number ones), but nothing could have prepared Michael Jackson for Thriller. Nobody could have prepared anybody for the success of Thriller, since the magnitude of its success was simply unimaginable -- an album that sold 40 million copies in its initial chart run, with seven of its nine tracks reaching the Top Ten (for the record, the terrific "Baby Be Mine" and the pretty good ballad "The Lady in My Life" are not like the others). This was a record that had something for everybody, building on the basic blueprint of Off the Wall by adding harder funk, hard rock, softer ballads, and smoother soul -- expanding the approach to have something for every audience. That alone would have given the album a good shot at a huge audience, but it also arrived precisely when MTV was reaching its ascendancy, and Jackson helped the network by being not just its first superstar, but first black star as much as the network helped him. This all would have made it a success (and its success, in turn, served as a new standard for success), but it stayed on the charts, turning out singles, for nearly two years because it was really, really good. True, it wasn't as tight as Off the Wall -- and the ridiculous, late-night house-of-horrors title track is the prime culprit, arriving in the middle of the record and sucking out its momentum -- but those one or two cuts don't detract from a phenomenal set of music. It's calculated, to be sure, but the chutzpah of those calculations (before this, nobody would even have thought to bring in metal virtuoso Eddie Van Halen to play on a disco cut) is outdone by their success. This is where a song as gentle and lovely as "Human Nature" coexists comfortably with the tough, scared "Beat It," the sweet schmaltz of the Paul McCartney duet "The Girl Is Mine," and the frizzy funk of "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)." And, although this is an undeniably fun record, the paranoia is already creeping in, manifesting itself in the record's two best songs: "Billie Jean," where a woman claims Michael is the father of her child, and the delirious "Wanna Be Startin' Something," the freshest funk on the album, but the most claustrophobic, scariest track Jackson ever recorded. These give the record its anchor and are part of the reason why the record is more than just a phenomenon. The other reason, of course, is that much of this is just simply great music. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers at least one musical hook, whether it is the beauty of 'Human Nature' (who can resist the 'dada dada da da da') or the 'whoo whoo' of 'Billie Jean'. It's all too good.

5 stars That Voice!!!
Today when you listen to pop singers and r&b singers they do not move you. Michael has a voice that takes you away. Aside from his dancing and entertaning, he is one of the best singers ever. Gaining his skills from the best artist at motown, he was able to utilize those skills in thriller. If you listen to songs like Baby be Mine, you can tell the strength and conviction in which he sings with. The song is so good that it moves you. Also Human Nature sounds like heaven!! His voice is perfect and you can feel his emotions through the songs. Today singers dont have this kind of appeal and commitment to excellence.

5 stars BEST ALMBUM OF ALL TIME!
AMAZING! Michael Jackson is beautiful inside and out. That statement can also be described for this alubum! The songs are so full of energy as Michael talentedly sings high and low notes. And who could resist his perfect "hee hee's" and "ooo's"? My favorite song on here is Billie Jean along with The Lady In My Life. Of course you should get this! It's the BEST ALUBUM EVER!!!

Tony Hooper was born and raised in Northeast Mississippi. Being a ministers son, he grew up in church. Music was a big part of the Hooper family. Tony started playing guitar around age 7, and writing songs at 12. Tony started his own contemporary christian band in high school called "Heart and Soul." The band did one recording which helped launch Tony's ministry. Moving to Red Bay, Al in 1988, Tony teamed up with Lindell Cooley, who mentored him in the area of modern worship. Tony lived in the church basement for 7 years, and became the music minister at Calvary Temple when Lindell moved on. During this time Tony recorded two more projects, "The Shepherds Field" in 1992 and "Month of Sundays" in 1996. "Month of Sundays" earned Tony a place on the Country Christian Charts with the song "One God." 1996 was an awesome year! Tony married his wife, Alicia, and to date they have two children, Madison and Olivia. Tony is an ordained minister, licensed by World Missionary Evangelism, a missions organization dedicated to taking the gospel around the world. Tony's travels include: Italy, Israel, France, Ukraine, Mexico, and all over the US. A missions trip to Italy with Rock Christian Artist, Rick Cua, landed Tony a life long friend, mentor and a spot in the band. Tony has traveled extensively ...
