| WOW! I almost want to say LOL, but, NAAAH! He's still got it
Paul returns to his trademark studio-craft with this album, Driving Rain. Here, Paul combines new inspiration with original jams and creative ideas that power forward in a way that we have not heard for at least two decades. This album is better than Flowers In The Dirt, Off The Ground, Press To Play, and almost every single album that also came from there. But it might not appeal to the casual Paul fan because he is being so experimental. So the non-fan, this album simply sounds like Paul is spinning himself into a corner with supposedly overblown studio usage and sonic experimentation, but that bombast is enough to solidify the album and make it solid despite that argument. Definitely an album for the major fan, but casual fans should approach it carefully. I know that I had to.

| BRILLIANT!
Paul McCartneys 2001 album, Driving Rain is awesome. First of all because it rocks. Some of the songs on here could be classified as heavy metal like Rinse the Raindrops which is awesome and Lonely Road where Paul is screaming and throwing stuff around. Since it was released after 9/11 the EXCELLENT song Freedom was added on to Driving Rain which makes for a very fitting closure to an AWESOME album.

| Haunting and Daring McCartney
DRIVING RAIN is an excellent piece of music by McCartney. This guy runs circles around his contemporaries like Eric Clapton, Elton John and Bob Dylan with this latest work. The problem is....the public won't recognize him for it. They're too busy concentrating still on McCartney's work with Beatles and/or Wings, and thus, this album isn't getting the attention it deserves. "From a Lover to a Friend" is haunting, "Rinse the Raindrops" is the most daring piece of work by McCartney since "Helter Skelter"!! Though the album needs repeated listenings to get fullly acquainted with, it's worth it...DRIVING RAIN has been in my stereo for weeks.

| Excellant record!
Very strong effort from Paul. If you own any of the Beatles records, you'll enjoy this one too. He still gets his songs from the same places he always did. Like a good book it keeps you interested with hooks and moods. Featuring Paul on bass singing live without bass over dubs! Just like he did when he was fab. There is a lot of crap on the charts. Order this record. All the lead critics agree; strong effort from McCartney. I find it so amazing he's still got it in him. Strong artistic intent.

| Relieved!
Since I was nine, I would listen to a new Beatles or member release with anticipation, and almost always came away on a first listen with a ????. Same here, was tenatively impressed first listen, had restrained excitement on second, and thereafter have liked the work better and more each listen. Honest, vocally and "bass"ically very, very, good, and has great hooks -- a vast improvement over Flaming Pie, which had good and some great moments, but not overall good. Love "Lonely Road, "About You" & "Back In the Sunshine Again" as great rockers. He's still my idol!
