Classy Latin pop from the veteran ballad singer, whose youth belies his long musical career (he won his first Grammy at age fifteen in 1985 for a duet with none other than Sheena Easton--who knew?) and immense popularity. With credits such as accompanying Frank Sinatra on his DUETS II album and contributing a song to Disney's HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME movie, Luis Miguel's umpteenth album is a collection of standards and original material that will further cement his position as heartthrob par excellence to his millions of fans.
From the slinky "Perfidia" to the uptempo "La Ultima Noche," MIS ROMANCES proves Miguel's expertise with all aspects of the romantic ballad style, with no better example than the album closer, "Al Que Me Siga," which positively drips with strings courtesy the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. MIS ROMANCES is a triumph for lovers of Latin romance everywhere.

From Zimbabwe Luis Miguel is one of the best latin artists that i have had the emence pleasure to listen to. He has managed to interpret the feel of the songs, especially on Mis romance, in such a way that when you close your eyes you fall in love and your whole body and soul is lifted. The Viva live concert is one to collect because I have watched it more than 30 times and still have not tired of it. His stage peformance complements the very fine musicians and beautiful yet talented background singers. A real pleasure to watch the crowd seriously enjoying. I don't speak Spanish, I am a Zimbabwean pop singer living in London UK, but the video had urged me to visit South America with a passion.
I will have to learn Spanish!!

He did it again! Luis Miguel is my favorite singer in Spanish, I am a very romantic person and loved the boleros since I heard them for the first time when I was 13. Luis Miguel with his interpreation of boleros in his Romances renewed my love for that type of music again. I have all his CDs. This last one Mis Romances is out of the ordinary he changed the beat and his voice has matured more and his heart is more in tune with the way he signs the romantic ballads of this CD. Thank you Luis Miguel for a beautiful new collection of old boleros and for the new ones, which are very good indeed. Submitted by a reviewer (Washington DC/Virginia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Elegant and Romantic This CD typifies the music of Luis Miguel. It is romantic and elegant on a level that pays no attention to what's "popular" on the radio. It is completely free from the R & B influences now controlling popular music (in both english and spanich). It is also free of the frivolous "latin" arrangements which have been passed off as authentic latin music lately. The album seeks to be elegant, pristine in quality and above all things, romantic. It succeeds on all countys. As for Luis Miguel's singing, I believe he is the best signer of romantic ballads in any language. He has a color in his voice and an interpretative skill lacking in others such as Alejandro Fernanadez, Cristian, and Marc Anthony. Submitted by a reviewer (San Diego, CA) Was This Review Helpful?
