U.K. import contains the bonus demo version of "Black Satellite" as well as a quicktime video of "Flavor Of The Weak."
A Boston band fronted by ex-Veruca Salt drummer Stacy Jones, American Hi-Fi is another heir to the Cheap Trick tradition of loud guitars, unpretentious attitude, and pop hooks galore. Said pop hooks are also familiar--"I'm a Fool" not only sports surprising high Beach Boys harmonies, it also quotes the chords from the Move/ELO classic "Do Ya."
Highlights include "Blue Day," a sort of 21st century version of the Beatles circa REVOLVER. "Flavor of the Weak" is an insidiously catchy tune about a girl who's disrespected by her slacker boyfriend, while "Scar" is a pounding riff rocker that makes the Cheap Trick connection especially explicit.
Includes a bonus track not on the US edition: a demo version of "Black Satellite" an enhanced Quicktime presentation of the video for "Flavor Of The Weak".

American Hi Fi songs
$12.65 IAO Chant from the Cosmic Inferno is the fourth full-length effort from Acid Mothers Temple and their new subtitled entity, the Cosmic Inferno, since the Melting Paraiso and many of their members have disappeared into the ether to pursue their own destinies -- namely, one Cotton Casino. IAO Chant, like its predecessors, is almost entirely instrumental. Dedicated to the late Pierre Moerlen and with thanks to Daevid Allen -- both leaders at different times of the communal prog hippie jam band Gong -- the album cover even pays tribute to this underground legend. The lineup for the Acid Mothers/Cosmic Inferno date is founding guitarist and spiritual "speed ...
| | Summer Wardrobe CD (2007)
American Hi Fi album
$12.85 In forming their band, the Summer Wardrobe, guitarist Jon Sanchez and pedal steel guitarist John Leon seem to have been interested in pursuing the sonic possibilities of combining their respective instruments with Sanchez's tenor voice, and that turns out to be a mixture that evokes a lot of the country-rock sounds of the 1970s. If the band has an immediate antecedent, it's Poco, particularly in its days with Timothy B. Schmit, whose voice Sanchez matches, just as Leon seems chiefly influenced ...
| | Sugababes Overloaded: The Singles Collection CD (2006) (Import) Special Edition; United Kingdom
American Hi Fi CD music
$27.85 This is a Super Audio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
During the seven-year span covered on Overloaded, Sugababes released four albums and 16 singles, while they lost -- and replaced -- two members. Twelve of those singles, in addition to a pair of new songs, make up the disc. It's an ideal introduction to the group since its four omissions (three of which made up their formative debut) were the four lowest-performing chart-wise, and it just so happens that they were also the least memorable of the bunch. Each of the 12 songs that form the basis of the disc placed in the U.K.'s Top Ten; four of them reached the very top, from the Richard X-produced "Freak Like Me" to the Dallas Austin-produced "Push the Button" -- two of the most clever and suggestive pop singles of the decade. "Good to Be Gone" and "Easy," the first two completely new songs recorded with Amelle Berrabah, indicate that the group hasn't lost any of its momentum. Unfortunately, despite their tremendous amount of appeal and popularity across Europe, they've never been given much of a chance in the States. A domestic issue of Three was planned and then scrapped, though "Hole in the Head" and "Round Round" did impact the dance charts. ~ Andy Kellman
UK pressing features one bonus track over the International edition. Undoubtedly one of the most innovative, exciting and consistently successful groups in the UK, Sugababes have been at the top of their game since their debut single 'Overload', in 2000. 2 Brit Awards, 4 Number Ones and two new band members later and Sugababes release their Singles Collection, featuring the brand new single, 'Easy', a collaborative effort with Californian rockers Orson. 'Overloaded: Singles Collection' spans their four studio albums, including the Richard X produced hit 'Freak Like Me' (their first Number 1), the sensational pop ballads 'Run For Cover' and 'Stronger', their biggest hit to date- 'Push The Button' and an additional new track, 'Good To Be Gone'. Universal. 2006.
