Le Canzoni Di Edith Piaf album
$13.65 Lhasa's earlier work included arrangements that drew on ranchera and Gypsy music, as well as American, Canadian, and Mexican folk, French chanson, and pop. The international flavor is more subtle on LHASA, without vanishing entirely. The songs on the album all deal with love, usually of the obsessive, hopeless, and doomed variety, and even at her most seductive, as on the subtle rock/tango "The Lonely Spider," Lhasa's vocals hint at grief and despair. The song's Latin standup bassline and subtle chiming guitar combine with a muted tango beat to give the song a deeply melancholy air. "Is Anything Wrong" ...

Le Canzoni Di Edith Piaf songs
$8.99 Derek Nakamoto (keyboards, synthesizer, bass, programming); Bernie Dresel (drums, percussion); Rob Chiarelli (programming).
Taking a stroll through Keiko Matsui's musical hypnotherapy session Dream Walk is like entering a funhouse where all previous definitions of contemporary jazz are strikingly distorted, and invention walks on the wild side of East meets West. Crisp melodies have always been at the heart of the keyboardist's best work, only here they come at you as part of the mood, rather than the central theme. Only a handful of the keyboardist's tunes follow conventional linear melodic patterns throughout, and even these are so beautifully enhanced by sweeping orchestral and percussive invention that atmosphere and throbbing, raw twists ultimately win out over predictability. Equal credit for the newly aggressive approach goes to husband/producer Kazu Matsui, whose sonic wizardry surrounds Keiko's silky jazz and new age passageways with curious echoing flavors, enticing soundscapes where almost anything goes, and loose-fitting urban cool. Other out-there touches include Molly Pasutti's sweeping wordless vocals, bass samples by Marcus ...

| | Weightlifters O My Stars CD (2008)
Le Canzoni Di Edith Piaf songs
$7.49 'O My Stars' is the second record from Chicago-based indie-pop singer/songwriter, Adam McLaughlin (as The Weightlifters). It’s another ambitious effort – a self-released, self-produced, 7-song EP on which Adam sings and plays pretty much everything. The music is melodic and moody, personal and powerful, with a hint of 60s tunefulness and a touch of 70s atmosphere, though unmistakably modern.Biography:The truth is that there are no Weightlifters to speak of. 'The Weightlifters' is the brainchild of Adam McLaughlin, a Philadelphia-area transplant living in the city of Chicago. Adam plays most of the instruments on O My Stars, getting help once again from drummer extraordinaire, Ron Wikso, as well as from his wife Carol, who adds the cowbell to her resume of percussive conquests.A ...
