| | Ted Nugent If You Can't Lick 'Em...Lick 'Em CD Ted Nugent Discography of CDs
Personnel: Ted Nugent (vocals, guitar, bass); Dave Amato (guitar, background vocals); Jai Winding (Hammond B-3 organ); John Purdell (keyboards); Chuck Wright (bass); Pat Torpey (drums, background vocals); Tom Werman (percussion). Producers: Tom Werman, Duane Baron, John Purdell. Recorded at Conway Recording Studios, Los Angeles, California 1987. Includes liner notes by Jovi, Richie Sambora, and Ted Nugent. Never one to bow to trends, Detroit's Ted Nugent calmly ignored New Wave, synth-pop, and other musical developments of the '80s, and continued to record unadulterated, guitar-heavy hard rock albums throughout the decade. His 1988 release, IF YOU CAN'T LICK 'EM... LICK 'EM, is typical Nugent, complete with amped-up blues licks, hilariously dumb song titles ("The Harder They Come (The Harder I Get)"), and plenty of impressively unrestrained soloing from Nugent himself. Nugent's only concession to the times may be "That's The Story of Love," which features a guest appearance from arena rock superstars Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. Ted Nugent's final album of the '80s is undoubtedly his strongest of the decade. Although that isn't saying much. Reuniting with producer Tom Werman, it's evident that Nugent had a particular sound in mind when he set out to record If You Can't Lick 'Em...Lick 'Em. If the album's sound marks a return to the classic compact Nugent guitar sound, the songs once again leave a lot to be desired. Recorded and mixed at Conway Studios in L.A., Lick 'Em suffers from a lack of consistent material, pontificated by the fact that Nugent sings each and every song on the record -- making it sound completely one-dimensional. In an effort to garner FM airplay, the Nuge collaborates with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora on "That's the Story of Love"; sadly, the track sounds like a bad Kiss outtake. The "Little Wing"-inspired "Spread Your Wings" never takes flight either, as the ridiculously titled "The Harder They Come (The Harder I Get)" is anything but hard or cutting-edge. Once again, hiring the best studio dogs that money can buy (like stellar drummer Pat Torpey or knack engineer John Purdell) can save Nugent from himself. ~ John Franck If You Can't Lick 'Em...Lick 'Em Music Ted Nugent If You Can't Lick 'Em...Lick 'Em Songs | 1. | Can't Live With 'Em |

Audio Mixer: Stefan Glaumann. Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate ...

If You Can't Lick 'Em...Lick 'Em
$21.49 The Primitives: Tracy Tracy, Steve Dullaghan, Pete Tweedie, Tig Williams, PJ Court. Liner Note Author: Lois Wilson. For a band that only managed three studio albums in its five-year career, there have been a surprising number of compilations devoted to the Primitives, largely due to the ageless wonder of the group's still-astonishing 1988 single "Crash," which seems to be revived every four or five years as a new generation of guitar pop fans discovers its breathless charms. However, 2006's Buzz Buzz Buzz: The Complete Lazy Recordings is the first comprehensive anthology collecting all of the Coventry foursome's pre-RCA recordings. Too unapologetically pop-oriented to fit entirely comfortably next to the more shambolic, C86-approved likes of the Flatmates, Shop Assistants, and Talulah Gosh, the Primitives were the first of that wave of female-led, ...
