| | Yolanda Adams Day By Day CD (2005)
Invade My Soul CD music
$6.25 With its heavy R&B leanings, DAY BY DAY is easily one of gospel singer Yolanda Adams's most accessible and energetic records. However, this doesn't mean that her messages of praise get lost in the potent pop-tinged production; in fact, Adams is as passionate as ever about her faith, as revealed on the formidable opening track, "Victory," ...

Invade My Soul songs
$17.15 WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD was originally released as a two-CD set of spirituals and inspirational pop songs in 1999. The 2008 edition cuts the selection from 26 to 14 songs, eliminating most of the classic gospel hymns and focusing primarily on Anne Murray's sweet-toned easy-listening versions of stalwart pop tunes like the Beatles' "Let It Be," Jackie DeShannon's "Put ...

| | David Phelps CD (2001)
Invade My Soul CD music
$10.89 As part of the Gaither Vocal Band, David Phelps is used to exercising his vocal chops. With his debut solo release, Phelps offers a disc that's rich in musical texture while singing up a virtual storm. The disc's opening grabber, "I Cry, You Care," is a testament to the steadfast love Christ bestows upon his people. Phelps sings in the upper registers on the cut as a moving bassline and drumbeat culminate to a fast fury. Much like Dallas Holms' "Rise Again" or Larry Normans' "I Wish We'd All Been Ready," the song "The End of the Beginning" has the mark of a career signature for Phelps. The tune is one that musters up feelings of inspired awe. In storybook fashion, the lyrics weave a tale of a chance meeting with a stranger on a plane. When Phelps reaches the tune's chorus his vocals are so charged that they are awe-inspiring. A nice detour from the adult contemporary fare is the all-out ...

| | Penelope Houston Karmal Apple CD (1994)
Invade My Soul album
$13.69 "get down on your hands, you'll make a real nice chair, baby, you're worth a fortune in innocence and fear" With these opening lines Penelope introduces an album that captures her inestimable songwriting talent at it's most ironic, caustic, unflinching and emotionally forthright. Never the less, Karmal Apple sounds as juicy and delicious as the gorgeous unique folk pop she and her band are known for. This time with a fuller production crunch. The complex and subtle arrangements are played with an intelligent, upbeat, and almost off-handed feel that belies the depth of the subject matters. Imported European only release, from 1994. Very rare and hard to find in America! This album is also available from www.penelope.net, and by download here (your best ...
| | T-Bone Walker Back On The Scene: Texas, 1966 CD (2003) Import
Invade My Soul CD music
$9.95 Originally issued in 1966 as HOME COOKING on Jet Stream Records.
Recorded in Houston and Pasadena, Texas in 1966. Includes liner notes by Harry Shapiro.
Guitarist T-Bone Walker is one of the links--if not THE link--between the suave, intricate jazz styles of Charlie Christian and Lonnie Johnson and the crackling electricity of Buddy Guy and Jimi Hendrix. Not only is he massively influential as a guitarist, but he was a dynamic showman (played that guitar behind his head way before Hendrix did) and his original songs have become standards ("Stormy Monday Blues"). Originally entitled HOME COOKING, this 1966 album from blues wizard T-Bone Walker, where he's accompanied by only three other musicians (with no drummer), proves the blues can be mellow without losing the sting or the zing.
Long lost 12 track studio album from 1966 ...
| | African Playground CD (2003)
Invade My Soul music CDs
$10.89 If Putumayo wasn't marketing African Playground as a compilation of children's music, some non-African listeners would have no idea that the material is aimed at kids (or is at least kid-friendly). They would know that African Playground is a good to excellent collection of African pop, but they wouldn't associate the songs with kids because it lacks the sophomoric qualities one associates with American children's music; the material sounds playful and lighthearted, but it doesn't sound sophomoric. Much of the children's music that comes from the United States is unlistenable if you're over the age of 12; it tends to talk down to kids and underestimates their intelligence. But that isn't the case on this Afro-pop CD, which could be described as "children's music with ...

| | Pretty Things Parachute CD (1970) (Import) Japan; Remastered; Mini LP Sleeve
Invade My Soul album
$42.05 Also available in a 3-pack with THE PRETTY THINGS and CROSS TALK.
The Japanese special-edition release features a vinyl-inspired design.
Following the disappointing sales of their ambitious 1968 concept album S.F. SORROW, the Pretty Things lost two of their members--drummer Twink (who went on to join the Pink Fairies) and, more significantly, founder/guitarist Dick Taylor. Remarkably, though, the remaining members, now light years away from their blues-rock beginnings, pressed on in relatively undaunted fashion with PARACHUTE, another bold Beatle-esque outing. Vocalist Phil May and multi-instrumentalist Wally Allen emerged as the British band's driving force, writing eclectic tunes such as the revved-up "Miss Fay Regrets," the melancholy "Grass," and the psychedelic sing-along "She Was Tall, She Was High." Although critically lauded, the record failed to bring the Pretty Things to a wider ...

$5.95 Whether celebrating their blue collar roots, crying them honky tonk blues or living it up while living her down, Brooks & Dunn epitomize the power of modern country pop. Following up on the enthusiastic reception which greeted their debut album BRAND NEW MAN, Brooks & Dunn's HARD WORKIN' MAN is a heady musical mix of whiskey-soaked country ("Heartbroke Out Of My Mind"), western swing ("Texas Women [Don't Stay Lonely Long]"), border town boogie ("Mexican Minutes") and ...
