This is a great collection of Neil's work, from the early recordings to the present day.It is a great showcase of the variety of music Neil has created and especially wonderful to have the live recordings from the present tour already included. SUE

better then the best
Neil Diamond is undoubtedly one of the most prolific songwriters of our time. The words and delivery of his music has had a profound effect on my life. "Essential" should not be overlooked by anyone who wants to have the very best in his/her personal library. Diamond is a genius. Thanks for all the great music and the years which were filled with it.

Comprehensive 'Essential'Collection.
probably the best definative collection of work for anyone interested in the 'best of' Neil Diamond. Good mix of live and studio recordings, reflecting the outstanding songwriting ability of a generally underrated music legend. This man is unique in his ability to marry poetry and music so perfectly that he cannot fail extract an emotional response from his listeners. Outstanding musical interpretation with a voice that will rip your heart out- sheer genius.

A must to have.
This cd has all you need if you are a Neil fan. I wish "Jungletime" was on it.Essential is the proper title because it is a must to have.
