Layne Redmond has made amazing contributions to the world of percussion and to the understanding of the feminine in rhythm. ?The Garland of Letters? begins with a hypnotic drone and Indian instrumentation. ?Lotus of Light? and ?Elements Into Light? continue with the recitation of Sanskrit in rhythmic chants over Steve Gorn?s flutes and Redmond?s precise drumming. The repetition of the sacred words create mesmerizing patterns. This is a primal meditation that is intended to cleanse and restructure consciousness. The sounds emanating loom large and are wonderful to listen to in and of themselves, or as a guide in meditation.
