About 15 months separated Saturn and its sequel, Rock Steady -- a clear sign that No Doubt was getting back to business, but it's really a more accurate reflection of Gwen Stefani's stature in 2001. Once Saturn started slipping down the charts -- apparently, the kids weren't ready to hear a post-new wave album about facing your thirties with your biological clock ticking -- Stefani started popping up all over the place, appearing on Moby's remix of "South Side" aRolling Stone (1/17/02, pp.47-8) - 3.5 stars out of 5 - "...Loose and frisky...the music here is simple and propulsive...Producer Ric Ocasek is definitely on some serious CANDY-O s*** here..." Rock Steady Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews This is ageless music I have to admit, even for a 52 yr old female, I loved all the music and songs on this CD. They can all qualify as a "our song" type and the whole cd is fun and getting off work music to listen to. Submitted by lmills (Corpus Christi, Tx,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Oh how No Doubt has matured This is a great album from beginning to end. No Doubt seems to have hit their stride and the result is a nice mix of funk, punk and soul. Submitted by a reviewer (Washington, DC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

No Doubt, New Direction Clearly, No Doubt are experimenting with new directions with their music. After such a brilliant album as tragic kingdom, I am happy to see that Rock steady is not a follow on, but a fresh mix of Ska, Reggae and Altenative. The only minor disappointment from a personal perspective is the limitied use of 'horns' on this album. These were put to good effect on their debut material, and I would like to hear more track with their addition. Submitted by a reviewer (Los Gatos, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
