This 2-disc DVD set features Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater. Volume One features music of Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment, with Mike performing eight songs & segments, breaking down parts of each. Featured throughout is exclusive footage of the making of the first LTE album, as well as rare live footage of the band. Volume Two focuses on the muic of Dream Theater. Mike performs eleven songs/segments from "Falling Into Infinity" and "Scenes From a Memory;" there is also exclusive live footage of Dream Theater's 1998 World Tour. Two video set documenting the music of Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment. Video One takes you into the studio with LTE where Mike Portnoy plays eight songs, breaking down his technique and explains patterns and fills. Video Two: Mike performs eleven songs from Dream Theater, with detailed explanations of double bass technique, and odd-timing. Live footage of both bands included as well as a website containing musical transcriptions of songs included. There is nothing like DT. They make me cry and they make me live. The above DVD brings another dimension into my understanding of impeccable druming by Mike. All the best DT.

Definetley not for the beginner, but if you play this is a great dvd to be amazed by.

Among the best ever!
This drum video is simply among the best I've seen and certainly in the top
2-3 that I own. The instructional parts
are so good he makes it look workable for intermediates,(like me), the live band footage is a must have, and Mike come's across as such a great guy that I
challenge any drummer,(or Dream Theater fan), to say they dident like this DVD.

Mike Portnoy is one of my all time favorite drummers, he is the drummer for my favorite band Dream Theater. If you looking for the typical Drum instruction video here i suggest you look elsewhere, the format of this video is not really aimed at beginners, it doesn't start out with simple lessons progressing through to the advanced. Instead it focuses on the music of the side project of Mike Portnoy and John Petrucci called Liquid tension Experiment, and it also focuses on the music of Dream Theater. The format here shows mike performing the drum parts live in the studio to music tracks from both bands, and then he breaks down key drum parts to the songs, such as fils and grooves and odd time signatures. It's highly informative as far as his style is concerned, and there are bonus live performances of both bands. This is very entertaining and informative for fans of Mike Portnoy and great drumming alike.

Mike Portnoy is the man! What a great dvd. One of the best educational drum videos I have ever watched! I hope Mike comes out with another video soon!
