Closed Captioned; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; English Subtitles; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re; Sensor Matic Comedian Eddie Murphy's directorial debut. It's the 1930's and the joint is jumpin' over at Harlem's Club Sugar Ray. The hot spot is owned by its namesake and his adopted, hot-headed son Quick. But Quick and Ray soon discover they have an adversary in the form of gangster Bugsy Calhoun, who wants the club for himself, and is using a corrupt cop and an alluring femme fatale to do the dirty work for him. But the streetwise father and son are not easily duped, and instead hatch a plan to teach the mobster a lesson he'll never forget... Sugar Ray (Richard Pryor) became Quick's (Eddie Murphy) adopted father when an adolescent Quick saved his life. More than two decades later, in 1938, Ray runs the most popular club in Harlem, with Quick as his right hand man. Before long, Bugsy, a white mobster (Michael Lerner) comes knocking for a piece of the club's action in the form of weekly protection money, with a crooked cop (Danny Aiello) as the muscle and a dangerous woman (Jasmine Guy) as the bait. But by fixing a big boxing match, Ray and Quick just may be able to thwart Bugsy's plan and make off with a wad of his cash in the process. Murphy wrote and directed. Eddie Murphy's directorial debut. Harlem Nights Reviews: "...Murphy's effort is distinguished by his own singular presence as an actor, and by the delight he takes in appearing with his various co-stars....At the center of HARLEM NIGHTS is one of the great young talents of the day in the process of seeing just how far he can go..."

| | Ozzy Osbourne Ozzmosis CD (1995) Remastered
Harlem Nights video
$7.59 Let us all be thankful that Ozzy's retirement didn't stick. It supposedly lasted for three days, after which he got bored and started working on this project. Heavy, riff-intensive tunes, progressive song structures and a little psychedelia give OZZMOSIS a definite Sabbath flavor. Ozzy must have been in touch with whatever inspired early classics like PARANOID and MASTERS OF REALITY. Witness the extremely chunky "Thunder Underground," which can stand up next to "Sweet Leaf" and "Symptom Of The Universe" as an archetype of hard rock. The trippy guitar in "Ghost Behind My Eyes" and "Denial" are not some young Ozzy-wannabe going for a retro sound--this man was there, "Planet Caravan"ing.
Still, this heavy metal daddy in touch with his roots is also hip to the genre's latest sound. OZZMOSIS has a live, up-front feeling, thanks to producer Michael Beinhorn (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden). Zakk Wylde's huge, raw guitar also plays a major role. He provides scorching solos, lush textures and juicy fills with a muscular tone and minimal effects--the perfect complements to Osbourne's songwriting.
But more important than the raging guitars and the big sound is attitude. Ozzy's spunk has indeed rejected retirement. His songs still spew biting commentary at whoever will listen. "Your bulls**t culture licking can't stop the deathwatch ticking/You're only ...

Harlem Nights DVD
$15.09 Henry Fonda and Sylvia Sidney play ill-fated lovers in Fritz Lang's fatalistic psychological thriller, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. The film opens as Joan (Sidney), a secretary in the public defender's office, excitedly awaits the release of her thrice-convicted criminal lover Eddie (Fonda). The two try to build a life together, despite skepticism of Joan's sister and boss, and succeed for a while until destiny seems to take control. Eddie butts up against a society that refuses to give ex-cons a second chance and tumbles back into contact with old gang connections. When he winds up back in jail--this time with a death sentence--he once again escapes only to commit a murder in the process and take Joan and their new baby with him as he wildly flees. The images are stark, as Lang darkly portrays the doomed couple's headlong descent through a cold society ...
