Witherspoon Maximillian is a member of an exclusive race that legend has called Nosferatu, the undead, the vampire. He knows no mercy and has no regret. He can transform himself in a thousand different ways. Max has ventureed to New York City in search of Rita Vender, an NYPD detective who is unaware of their unique blood bond. As Max and Julius, his hapless ghouls, attempt to transform Rita into Max's vampiress, her devoted NYPD partner Justice finds he has much at stake in protecting her from an age-old evil. Maximillian is a debonair black vampire, the last in a line of Caribbean bloodsuckers. He has just arrived in Brooklyn to search for Rita, a beautiful cop who does not realize that she's half-vampire -- and predestined to be Maximillian's bride. Meanwhile, Rita and her handsome partner Justice are investigating Maximillian's bloody murder spree... and falling in love with each other. But when Rita meets the dashing vampire, she finds herself attracted to him as well. Will Rita fulfill her destiny by becoming a vampire and Maximillian's wife? Or will she change the course of fate and find happiness with a mortal instead? Eddie Murphy is Maximillian, the last of a race of vampires from the Caribbean who travels to New York in search of Rita (Angela Bassett), an NYPD officer whom he considers to be the perfect woman to carry on his dying bloodline. Once he hits Gotham, Maximillian has a series of fish-out-of-water adventures, which include posing as a street preacher, finding a slum apartment that he magically turns elegant, and dropping plenty of one liners. When Maximillian finds Rita, he must compete for her affections with her partner Justice (Allen Payne), which he does with the help of his faithful and decomposing sidekick Julius (Kadeem Hardison). Wes Craven (SCREAM, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET) directed this offbeat mix of comedy, horror, and romance, which could be seen as a genre flipside to Murphy's COMING TO AMERICA. Released theatrically in the USA October 27, 1995. The film went on to gross $18.7 million at the domestic box office.

Additional cast: Messiri Freeman (Eva); Kelly Cinnante (Officer); and Ayo Adeyemi (Bartender).

Vampire In Brooklyn Movie Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Murphy's Acting Versatility Eddie Murphy has done a lot of good comedy... this movie is no exception. However, do NOT expect a "Love at First Bite" Dracula spoof. This is much darker and gorier, but has many macabre laughs. It also includes the imposing presence of Zakes Mokae (the chillingly evil chief of the Haitian Tontons Macouts in The Serpent and the Rainbow), but, this time as a good guy. This time, Dracula has come to Brooklyn, seeking a lost bloodmate (in the alluring form of Angela Bassett, police detective). The script skillfully mixes high-brow humour, ghetto comedy and vampirism in a kind of Draculism you shouldn't miss! Submitted by hanley1 (Sunny Isles Beach, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Vampire In Brooklyn DVD
$26.05 MY FAVORITE MARTIAN aired from 1963 to 1966, becoming one of the first in a long line of situation comedies that adopt fantastical premises. The story centered around Tim O'Hara, a bachelor news reporter for the Los Angeles Sun, who stumbles one night across a crashed spacecraft, and befriends its occupant. Tim decides to take the Martian home and pass him off as his Uncle Martin, giving rises to a series of comedic near-misses where Martin's true identity is almost discovered. Most bothersome is Tim's next door neighbor Loralee, a meddling woman who is constantly intruding on her neighbors' affairs. Although Martin looks human and speaks English, he has a number of tricks up his sleeve that include telepathy, the ability to make himself invisible, and a troublesome antenna that sometimes emerges from the top of his head, all of which threaten to give him away at any time. In the first season, Martin becomes acquainted with earthly events that are foreign on Mars, such as love, lightning storms, toothaches, and the common cold, with some rather unexpected results. Meanwhile, Tim has to deal with inquisitive visitors, including a cousin who knows quite well he has no Uncle Martin, while also experimenting with telepathy himself, and using Martin's powers to further his career.
When Tim O'Hara (Bill Bixby) discovers Martin (Ray Walston), a genuine Martian whose ship has crash-landed on Earth, the ...
