| | Toddlers Sing Rock 'N' Roll CD
Music for Little People maintains a catalog of audio recordings designed especially for children. Most of the collections in the Toddlers Sing series are chock-full of songs aimed at tiny tots, like "Itsy Bitsy Spider," "Polly Put the Kettle On" and "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe." Toddlers Sing Sunday School (which includes a version of "Dese Bones Gonna Rise Again") and Toddlers Sing Storytime are each specifically recommended for ages two through seven. Everything else in the Toddlers Sing series is intended for general use, including the amusement of doting adults, which seems to be most of the idea behind Toddlers Sing Rock 'N' Roll. The cutesy formula employed throughout this series becomes more challenging as whiny little voices try and navigate songs originally geared for young adults. The most successful tracks involve tunes of greater substance and root funkiness, like "Turn It Around," "ABC," "La Bamba" and its offshoot, "Twist and Shout." Several of the other numbers come off as more irritating than cute. Some parents, older relatives, or adult guardians may feel that what young people really need to hear is a wide range of good music rather than an exclusive diet of goofy kitsch. Those who subscribe to this philosophy may want to opt for MFLP's 20 Great Kid Songs, an anthology of friendly tunes sung by substantial artists like Buckwheat Zydeco, the Persuasions, Michelle Shocked, Taj Mahal, Los Lobos, Sweet Honey in the Rock and Donovan Leitch, whose "I Love My Shirt" belongs in every nursery. ~ arwulf arwulf

Toddlers Sing Rock 'N' Roll CD music
$12.65 A tie-in with the Bratz toy line, the ROCK ANGELZ album features the five Bratz girls--Roxxi, Jade, Cloe, Sasha, and Yasmin--fronting their own band. Though they're known for having a "passion for fashion," these Bratz clearly know how to rock out, too. The music here is energetic, guitar-based pop in the Hilary Duff/Lindsay Lohan vein, though "Who I Am" and "Stand Out" add a metal edge to the Bratz's sound. As with any respectable 'tween-pop record, there are soaring power ballads on ROCK ANGELZ, including the yearning "Change the World" and the loner anthem "Nobody's Girl." For Bratz collectors and fans ...
| | Chenille Sisters Big Picture And Other Songs For Kids CD (1992)
Toddlers Sing Rock 'N' Roll music CDs
$14.09 The Chenille Sisters opened up a whole new area of their career when they released their first children's album, 1-2-3 for Kids, in 1990. On that album, the three singers wrote seven of the 13 songs. On their second children's album, The Big Picture and Other Songs for Kids, they have taken an even bigger hand in the songwriting, contributing 12 of 14 tunes, with only a cover of Shirley Ellis' 1960s hit "The Name Game" and the 1910s hit "The Aba Daba Honeymoon" interrupting the flow of originals. As was true of 1-2-3 for Kids, this album is aimed at the nursery school and kindergarten set, and the trio -- Cheryl Dawdy, Connie Huber, and Grace Morand -- have an excellent idea of what children that age are likely to find funny and entertaining, whether it's a song about drawing pictures that have some outlandish items ...
