What began as a group of friends jamming to their favorite covers, Blind Reign has evolved into one of the most creative and powerful bands of the past several years. Led by vocalist Tony Shepherd, the band released their first project, "Conception," in 2002. Though the band drew local attention and earned several accolades and stage slots alongside some of rock and roll's giants, they were still unsatisfied and pushed toward greater goals. However, the group's efforts were cut short when founding guitarist Ernesto Maciel and drummer Steven Martinez left the band. After continuing to play locally for several years with other musicians, Tony finally discovered a new direction for the band in 2008.The spark behind Blind Reign's upcoming album, "Disregard," was provided by the addition of guitarist Johnny Pena and drummer Chris Rubio. Sharing Tony's passion and drive for success, the group quickly focused their energy on creating an album that would truly reflect each of their individual attitudes and feelings, as well as shatter any attempt to box the band into a single genre. "Our musical backgrounds and tastes are in vastly different styles; blues, metal, jazz, pop, and even classical, and you can hear elements of all of that in each of our songs," said Chris. After several months of writing, tracking began on the 10 songs that would make up the album. The atmosphere in the studio was a mix of happiness, disappointment, joy, and anger. The band sees this blend as a benefit. Tony states: "If you have a group of individuals, you're always going to have a discord over something. Everyone thinking the same way only makes the end product lifeless." In this case, the end result is a truly impressive collection of songs that are varied in style but tied together with a driving force that lasts from beginning to end.After posting several uncompleted songs from "Disregard" on MySpace, the band attracted immediate attention from as far away as Poland and has already gotten offers for airplay in major markets such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Canada. Dates are already being booked around Texas, and future regional and national tours are already being talked about."Disregard" will be officially released on January 16, 2009.
