Pianist and vocalist John Altenburgh's Christmas collection combines nine traditional holiday favorites with four originals. The jazzy renditions of seasonal music make for pleasant additional listening alongside the tried and true classics. Redfish Island was an island in Galveston Bay close to the ship channel and until the last hurricane washed it away, was the favorite anchorage for all the local boating crowd. There are two songs about Redfish on the CD thus the title “Redfish Island”; one about unrealized dreams and the Redfish Island most of the world-cruising boats never venture further than, and the sequel, “Where Did Redfish Go”, a humorous story about trying to find the now submerged Redfish Island . Other songs such as “Major Doubts About Waterspouts” relates a true story of a sailing regatta Kelly raced in from Galveston to Tuxpan, Mexico. Listening to his music one notices a Jimmy Buffett influence and Kelly readily admits, “ after hearing Buffett sing about sailing and islands, I dreamed of getting a boat and writing songs about that whole lifestyle.” A few years later his dream began to materialize.Growing up in Missouri, McGuire soon ended up performing in Dallas ...

The debut album from former B2K lead singer Omarion who has stepped into the booth with producers including AllStar (3LW, Joe, Luther Vandross), The Underdogs (B2K, Ruben Studdard, Tyrese) and Atlanta's own Corner Boys (Usher). ˙As co-writer on 5 songs, he hopes to show fans ''a deeper insight of what goes on inside my head''. This pressing contains the original 13 tracks, plus a bonus DVD (PAL/Region 0) that includes Interview footage, the MTV Diary of Omarion, plus the videos for 'O' & 'Touch'. *Please note you will need an All Code DVD polayer to view. Omarion's career didn't slow down after the breakup of B2K. In addition to playing Reggie in Fat Albert, he went about recording his debut album with an extended cast of producers. As with most other former boy band members gone solo, Omarion makes an attempt to break from his teen pop past by getting as racy and raunchy as possible -- "I don't mean no disrespect to you, but a n*gga really tryin' to f*ck with you" being one of the least up-front come-ons from "Take It Off." (Note: there is no parental advisory label on the album.) The content runs the spectrum of a relationship, though there's lots of courtship going on, carried by the expected assortment of ballads, mid-tempo grooves, and club tracks. Omarion is most effective when sticking to lighthearted, summery funk -- like the Kool & the Gang-tinged "Never Gonna Let You Go (She's a Keepa)" (featuring an out-of-place drop-by from OutKast's Big Boi), and when he gets heavyweight assistance from the Neptunes ("Touch") and Rodney Jerkins ("Drop That Heater"). Had Omarion been less concerned with street credibility, realizing that it might be better to allow his young fan base to mature along with him, this debut would've been more than satisfactory. ~ Andy Kellman
