Superdanzones is an easy-listening, steady mid-tempo session by Cachao and His Tipica Gigante recorded in August, 1961. Most of these ten compositions are led by a flutist (all penned by Cachao, except for "Maximo Gomez" which was written by Pedro Hernández), feature brief, if any, chorus vocals, and are complemented greatly by the string section. Unfortunately, the personnel is not given in these Spanish-only liner notes, but the sound quality is clean on this reissue. ~ Joslyn Layne
Liner Note Author: Silgfredo Ariel.

| | Best Of The Guess Who CD (1977) Bonus Tracks
Superdanzones album
$6.79 (MP3 Available for Download) The Guess Who always seemed a bit like the Canadian predecessor/counterpart to Grand Funk Railroad, but they typically fared far better with the critics because of the versatility that they possessed. That trait is very evident on this collection of hits and great songs. From the opening "These Eyes," with its orchestral strings and Zombies-like baroque pop feel to the classic AOR crunge of "American Woman," the Guess Who played a wide variety of music. It is sometimes hard to believe that the same group that brought the world the jazzy "Undun" and the CS&N-ish hippie anthem "Share the Land" is also responsible for the rocking "No Time." This 11-track collection paints a very ...

Superdanzones songs
$13.65 (MP3 Available for Download) CELTIC THUNDER THE SHOW, the audio companion for the popular PBS television special, showcases the five Irish vocalists in their ideal setting, a stage in Dublin. Celtic Thunder thrives on the contrast of its various voices (four tenors and a baritone) creating a surreal musical landscape. Paul Byrum's assured operatic tones on "Remember Me (Recuerdeme)" crest against the doleful pop of Ryan Kelly's "Desperado" and the nascent rumble of Darien McGinty on "Come By the Hills." The concert is tied together by the steady hand of songwriter/pianist Phil Coulter, ...
| | Brooks & Dunn Steers & Stripes CD (2001)
Superdanzones album
$7.59 (MP3 Available for Download) "Ain't Nothing 'Bout You" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
Selling 22 million albums and scoring 18 #1 hits, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have been dominant figures in '90s country music. With this album, they upped the ante for the 21st century. Enlisting hot producer Mark Wright (who has worked with Lee Ann Womack and Clint Black), the band took seven months to record STEERS & STRIPES. Instead of doing a quickie recording session then heading out on tour, Brooks & Dunn really took their time on this one, and their efforts payed off with this phenomenal country-pop crossover album.
Trisha Yearwood lends her fabulous vocal power on "The Last Thing I Do." "The Long Goodbye" is a tug-at-your-heartstrings ballad complete with gorgeous strings. "My Heart Is Lost To You" is a pledge of love that goes in a slight Latin direction. "Lucky Me, Lonely You" is one of the few traditional country tunes on the album, as STEERS & STRIPES is dominated by country-rock/pop and tender ballads. All in all, these heartfelt tunes are some of the strongest the boys have released.

| | Atoll Musiciens-Magiciens CD (1974) (Import) Japan; Mini LP Sleeve
Superdanzones songs For Sale Pre-Order Now! Available: Friday, December 18, 2009
$43.35 French progressive rock group Atoll fashioned their music around Yes' and Genesis' repertoire, employing lush tapestries of classically oriented string work to light melodies and intricate song structures. 1974's Musiciens-Magiciens is among the band's strongest releases, laying out breezy, energetic passages that use a moderate amount of keyboards and strong dosages of guitar to create busy semi-suites that hold together quite well. All the vocals are in French, but the instruments are what truly steal the show, especially in the 11-plus minutes of "Le Baladin du Temps," a concept piece which is broken up into three separate parts. The final track, entitled "Je Suis D'ailleurs," has the band creating some rather spirited musical drifts and variations through the use of animated rhythms and resilient textures, much like Ange does, another French progressive band. While Atoll's composition rarely strayed throughout their short lifespan, Musiciens-Magiciens remains one their best albums, mainly because the group was just starting out and their music and ...
