The title of Labradford's second album might be a refererence to the contribution of the newest addition to the Richmond, Virginia duo of Carter Brown and Mark Nelson. Labradford's third member, bassist Robert Donne, adds a whole new dimension to the band's sound. The spacey, near-formless drones and explorations of the oddly-named debut PRAZISION LP were heavily influenced-by Brian Eno's pioneering ambient efforts; by the deceptively simple minimalism of Philip Glass and Steve Reich; by Terry Riley's increasingly meditative solo experiments; and, most obviously, by the '70s Krautrock of Can, Faust, Tangerine Dream, and Kraftwerk, and the insular, personal experiments of Britain's Spacemen 3. On A STABLE REFERENCE, however, Donne's relentlessly ticking basslines give the songs more shape and forward momentum. The closest analog to a song as hypnotic as "El Lago" might be found on the similarly mono-minded early-'70s albums by Germany's Neu!.

Melody Maker (12/23-30/95, pp.66-67) - Ranked #41 on Melody Maker's list of 1995's `Albums Of The Year.' Melody Maker (6/24/95, p.35) - "...Despite their guitar/bass/keyboard lineup...Labradford's real instruments are echo and reverb....celestial ambience....Gloriously out of step with the stultifying norms of current US guitar activity, Labradford warrant your immediate and devout attention." $14.79 Joanna de Seyne was born and raised in New York surrounded by music. Her father is an orchestra conductor and her mother is a former opera singer. She studied cello and piano for many years before she determined that she did not have the discipline to pursue a career as a classical musician. In a reaction against her musical roots, she spent a few years exploring other artistic avenues before returning to music on her own terms.Joanna moved to Europe and began writing songs in London, where she made London's Notting Hill Gate scene her home for most of the nineties. A hotbed for musicians and artists, Joanna signed a deal with a publishing company and worked with such writers and producers as Ray St John (Sade's "Smooth Operator"), Eliot Randall(Steely Dan), Andy Richards (Annie Lennox), and Martin Terefe (Leona Naess, Ron Sexsmith). In late 1997, Joanna was enticed to return to the U.S. because of major label attention. Newly based in LA, she began an intense period of song writing with co-writers such as Kristen Hall ("Let it Rain"), Jud Friedman (Whitney Houston), and George Sarah ("Sonata for Petra"). She was granted an advance by another major which enabled her to put a band together to concentrate on her live performance. But by that time, her disenchantment with the state of the music industry ...

$18.55 This CD contains two bonus cuts--"Restless Heart" (acoustic) and "Your Love" (acoustic).
Takara was originally formed in August of 1987. After a few months rehearsals Takara made their debut in October with a show in Hollywood. With this debut show came the start of Takara's career. Takara proceeded to play many more shows throughout 1987-88. In November of 1988 Takara went into the studio to record their first demo with producer Jeff Scott Soto. As Takara entered the studio it became apparent that the current singer of Takara was not ready to record. In order to finish the new Takara demo, Jeff Soto was asked to help out, and sing on the demo. Thus then began a very long and prosperous relationship between Takara and Jeff Scott Soto. In 1990 Takara again with Jeff Soto producing, and singing went back into the studio to record what would then become their debut CD "Eternal Faith" Takara recorded ten new songs for this soon to be CD. Between Neal Grusky's guitar work, and Jeff's vocals it seemed like a perfect match. In 1992 Takara regrouped and added new members that would be a part of the Takara debut CD " Eternal Faith". Takara line was now complete with Jeff Soto on vocals, Neal Grusky on Guitar, Bob Duda on Drums and Gary Schutt on Bass. In August of 1993 Takara was rewarded for all their hard work and sacrifice. Zero corporation(Japan) and Now and Then records(Europe) offered Takara a deal to release their first CD "Eternal Faith". "Eternal Faith" was released in December 1993 to a very receptive audience. This new CD entered the Burrn Charts at #16, and European charts at #8. With songs like "Spotlight", Two Hearts", "Restless Heart", "Colors Fade", and "Passions of the Heart" is was easy to see why "Eternal Faith" had such a strong impact for a debut album. Takara's new CD went onto to sell 15,000 worldwide. These were very impressive numbers for a band that didn't even tour Japan or Europe. Takara received much acclaim for this CD in the magazines, and radio. After a short break the band began work on what was to become their 2nd CD "Taste of Heaven". With the excitement created from their 1st Cd "Eternal Faith" many fans ...
