Purchase Revisited CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Alice Cooper Welcome To My Nightmare CD (1975)
Revisited album
$6.09 In 1975, Reuniting with longtime producer Bob Ezrin (who was absent for Cooper's prior record, MUSCLE OF LOVE), Cooper released an album whose title explains the subject matter--WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE. Now on his own and in total control, Cooper was able to explore rock theatrics in a way that was impossible in his band. The ensuing tour was one of the most over-the-top excursions of that era.
"Cold Ethyl" is a disturbing little ditty about necrophilia. The soft, melodic "Only Women Bleed" became a surprise smash for Alice, and there's a low-key feel as well on the chilling "Steven." The somewhat funky title track works as a kind of theme song, while Cooper's expected heavy metal tendencies are explored on "The Black Widow." Most of Lou Reed's band joined Cooper for this record. Guitarists Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner, as well as bassist Prakash John do a superb job of replicating the excitement of the original band.
After the band known as Alice Cooper broke up, the band's singer/namesake took the moniker on for his first solo album. In 1975, Reuniting with longtime producer Bob Ezrin (who was absent for Cooper's prior record, MUSCLE OF LOVE), Cooper released an album whose title says it all--WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE. Now on his own and in total control, Cooper was able ...
| | Misfits Walk Among Us CD (1982)
Revisited CD music
$8.99 If the Misfits were one of the greatest punk bands then WALK AMONG US s perhaps one of the greatest records in punk history. While STATIC AGE and EARTH A.D. showcased a band searching for an identity like a vampire for its next victim, WALK AMONG US is almost sheer perfection. With a solidified lineup, fully grown-out devillocks (the Misfits trademark long spike of hair in the front) and the stabilizing presence of the somewhat pedestrian but agile Arthur Googy on drums, uber-Misfit Glenn Danzig was finally able to match his zombie-Elvis to a worthy musical foil.
From the manic opening of "20 Eyes" to the monster football chorus of ...

| | Nantucket CD (1978)
Revisited songs
$10.49 By the time Nantucket were signed to Epic, they had already amassed a strong following in their home state of North Carolina and the surrounding region with their relentless touring schedule and equally tenacious live performances (the band even won a spot opening for AC/DC on select dates of its U.S. tour). However, unlike most Southern rock bands à la Skynyrd or Molly Hatchet, Nantucket had more in common with the arena rock sound of Boston or Toto. And while the music and production values are on par with the aforementioned groups, the lyrics certainly are not, sounding painfully clichéd and dated even by late-'70s standards. It's a fun no-frills rock & roll record, but it's also the sound of a band struggling ...

| | Head Automatica Decadence CD (2004)
Revisited CD music
$10.39 Although Glassjaw's Daryl Palumbo could have stuck to his nu-metal guns while teaming up with dance/electronica producer Dan "the Automator" Nakamura, the vocalist uses DECADENCE as a conduit for Rapture-worthy grooves with a rock & roll swagger. Among the more booty-shaking ...

| | Sirens More Is More CD (2007)
Revisited album
$11.99 Released in 2007 a good 30 to 35 years after glam's heyday, this slice of glam revivalism is just about as over-the-top as you'd expect from the back cover photo of a gold-suited band in various states of kinky dress. Not many tricks are missed in the music: the lead vocals (by Muffy Kroha) have a breathlessly preening, upper-register yelping quality, the backup singing often motors things along with chants, and the arrangements have a brash campy guitar pop attack. The utter lack of original material does make you feel as though you're buying a souvenir from a very accomplished glam tribute band. But while covering Sweet's "Fox on the Run," the Bay City Rollers' "Saturday Night," and (most of all) David Bowie's "Rock'n'Roll Suicide" is begging for unfavorable comparison with the originals, the Sirens do show some imagination in the rest of the songs they select for this CD. The Sweet songs "Hellraiser" and "Wig-Wam" might have seemed too obvious as choices from a British act, but, after all, these weren't hits in the Sirens' native U.S.. There are also glammed-up takes on a few early-'70s songs that certainly weren't thought of as glam at the time, but work well in this context, including the MC5 ("High School" and "Tonight"); the ...
