Boom Boom album
$14.69 This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
MOVE IT ON OVER, George Thorogood's sophomore album, is very much of a piece with his debut. It's a brash, rowdy take on the blues that owes as much to '60s garage bands and punk as it does to Muddy Waters. Thorogood's music isn't about deep feelings; it's about beer, getting down on a Saturday night, and the party to end all parties.

Guitarist-singer-songwriter John Lee Hooker was one of the links between the raw, acoustic country blues and the urban, electrified blues--his personal style is marked by hypnotic, cyclic rhythms and doomy, plainspoken singing. He was a major influence on many rock & roll artists (in both England and America) in the 1960s. From a 1965 concert in London, England, HOOKER AND THE HOGS sees the legendary bluesman team up with the British blues-rock band The Groundhogs.
Originally recorded in 1965, live in London. This DVD-Audio features 24 bit/96 kHzz DVD-Audio and 24 bit/48 kHz Dolby Digital 5.1 options, as well as stunning 5.1 surround ...

The definitive rock opera, TOMMY liberated the Who from a "singles band" stigma, marking them as a substantial artistic force. Composer Pete Townshend had flirted with the conceptual format on two previous releases, but here his vision is spread over two ambitious records that play to the Who's main strengths. Anthems such as the raucous "Pinball Wizard" and the surprisingly serene "I'm Free" emphasize the kinetic power of the band, while Townshend's cast of characters (the perverted Uncle Ernie, the inscrutable Tommy) reveals a wild and unconventional imagination. Townshend even incorporates Sonny Boy Williamson's "Eyesight to the Blind" as part of his fable about the "deaf, dumb, and blind kid," making a successful reference to the past in what is an undeniably groundbreaking and forward-looking achievement.

The epitome of a 20th Century musician, Herbie Hancock has always traversed wildly divergent stylistic paths, finding his way easily into jazz, funk, fusion, dance-pop and more. His ability to make valid individual statements in all these genres is part of what makes his compositions and performances so rich. So it doesn't seem at all incongrous for Hancock ...

| | Deep Purple Who Do We Think We Are CD (1973)
Boom Boom CD music
$16.15 After establishing itself as a hard-rock giant, thanks to endless touring and the release of such milestone records as MACHINE HEAD and IN ROCK, Deep Purple was in a state of turmoil when it went into the studio to record 1972's WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE? Despite all the infighting, the band pulled together long enough to record seven tracks that only bolstered the band's reputation.
The best-known song, "Woman From Tokyo," boasted a riff as memorable as the one that defined "Smoke on the Water" and was later admitted by Ritchie Blackmore to have been cribbed ...

Though he was born in Mississippi, harmonica player/singer Charlie Musselwhite came to be one of the musicians defining the 1960s Chicago blues sound. While he learned from the previous generation of Chicago blues wizards (Little Walter, for one), Musselwhite developed his own unique, almost saxophone-like style. UP AND DOWN THE HIGHWAY presents him in a live ...

$16.09 This is a DVD-Audio disc. The DVD-Audio content can only be read by a DVD-Audio player. The Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS audio tracks provided on this disc will play on a standard DVD player.
In the wake of bassist Bobby Sheehan's death, Blues Traveler could have either fallen apart or gotten stronger. In the work they've done since that tragic occurrence, they've taken the latter path. Their second post-Sheehan album, TRUTH BE TOLD, doesn't diverge sharply from the band's past; the slowly unfolding, folk-rock tinged feel of the stately, melodic "Sweet and Broken" and the bluesy, groove-based angularity of "Can't See Why" are of a piece with the main body of the group's work. But there are changes as well; new keyboard player Ben Wilson's hearty organ and piano contributions are the most obvious sign of expansion, but it's in the songwriting as well. The opener "Unable to Get Free," for instance, suggests (roughly) a testosterone-injected version of Cat Stevens' "Wild World," and the soul/rock/funk/jazz mixture of the syncopated "My Blessed Pain" finds the band unafraid ...

Jane Monheit's lush vocals do right by the songs on COME DREAM WITH ME. Influenced by Ella Fitzgerald, she has gained legions of fans with her warm, rich voice and wise-beyond-her-years, expressive style. Ably assisted by saxophonist Michael Brecker and Monk-influenced pianist Kenny Barron, Monheit continues her path to becoming one of the best-known contemporary female jazz vocalists with this collection, which contains standards such as ...
