Take a huge helping of danceable salsa, mix it with a splash of urban R&B and 70's pop, serve it up with a voice saturated with emotion, and you've got Marc Anthony. His status as a Latin music superstar can only be buoyed by CONTRA LA CORRIENTE, his third Spanish-language salsa album. Anthony covers the dance floor with energetic songs like "Me Voy A Regalar" and "Si Tu Vas," and plunges wholeheartedly into emotional ballads such as "Y Hubo Alguien" with characteristic soulfulness.
This album is in some respects an answer to Anthony's old-school critics, who have objected in the past to his modern take on traditional salsa; CONTRA was recorded in Puerto Rico with the well-known arranger Angel "Cucco" Pena, a collaboration whose result is fresh and innovative, yet strongly resonant of the soneros who have been among Anthony's lifelong influences.

Although Men at Work is the only band photographed on the front of the 15-track comp Collection, the fact that it is credited to "Men at Work and Friends" should drop a hint that this is not a strict career overview of the Australian group. While you get a handful of Men at Work hits, as well as a solo track by frontman Colin Hay, there are also selections (for no rhyme or reason) from Tim Finn, Flash and the Pan, Black Sorrows, and Sherbet. As a result, this collection fails on several levels. If it's an extensive collection of strictly Men at Work's best material you're looking for, this obviously isn't it. Secondly, these aforementioned bands never hit the charts as mightily stateside as Men at Work did. As a result, most U.S. fans will probably be left scratching their heads as to who these other blokes are. If this disc were meant to be a compilation of Men at Work plus other '80s-era MTV/radio favorites with some musical similarities, then maybe it would have been wiser to include tracks by the Police, Big Country, the Outfield, etc. Instead, you're left with only a precious few Men at Work hits ("Down Under," "Overkill," and "Dr. Heckyll and Mr. Jive"). Since its formation in the Bronx, New York in 1994, Dominican boy band Aventura has been steadily expanding its sound toward a style that incorporates hip-hop, R&B, rock, merengue, and reggaeton, while still retaining strong traces of traditional bachata. GOD'S PROJECT is the culmination of Aventura's stylistic expansion, and is the group's most mature, diverse, and accomplished album.
The sounds of bachata--the quartet's foundation--are still prominent, especially on "Ciego de Amor," which features a cameo by Antony Santos, one of the Dominican Republic's leading bachata artists (not to be confused with Aventura's own Anthony "Romeo" Santos). The group also ventures deep into reggaeton territory on the likes of "Ella y Yo" (which stars reggaeton kingpin Don Omar). Various international flavors work their way into the mix, particularly the samples of Asian music that crop up here and there, and the strains of traditional flamenco on "Un Beso." All of this is wrapped skillfully in a sound and attitude that bursts with contemporary pop savvy.

Hi Folks, After the success of my last CD A Nashville Christmas and fans asked for more. I sat down with pen and paper and wrote some new songs. Track 1 Stars of long ago, was written after going to the Grand Ole Oprie at the Rymin. That night I had a visit from the spirit world. The famed Minie pearl came to my room and sat down to tell me that the stars of the past have been watching me and to go out and sing there songs and keep country music alive. Track 5 Allergies, was written for a friend of mine after and allergies attack while he was singing a set in Nashville and had to leave the stage to recover. Track 6 Rocking my Cares Away was written at the Cracker Barrel Country Store in Chicopee, MA. Upon leaving the store I met an elderly couple that had left ahead of me rocking on the front porch. “I greeted them with I see your rocking your cares away.” The line stuck and I wrote the song. Track 10 “ Little Yellow Men,” was written in Hadley, MA. One rainy day driving by a farm, I looked out across a field and could see yellow men picking squash and the song was written.Parts of the CD was recorded at Merit Studio in Nashville, TN. other parts was recorded at Derek Studio’s in Dalton, MA. The balance was recorded in my guitar player’s living room(Joe Boni) in Williamstown, MA. I hope you enjoy this CD as much as we enjoyed making it.Thank You for buying my CD.Dick.
