Peter Gunn season I and II are very different, from todays' television. These stories had intelligent dialogue, acting drama, no profanity, smart stories, good music, and logical endings.

Sophisticated film noire came to television in 1958 when the private detective series "Peter Gunn" debuted on NBC-TV. Created by Blake Edwards with a state-of-the-art, Grammy-winning jazz score by Henry Mancini, this show crackled with suspense, heart-stopping action and cool, clever dialogue, especially when Pete and his nightclub-singing flame Edy Hart (Lola Albright) got together. Craig Stevens defined hip and debonair as Peter Gunn, sort of an Americanized, street-wise version of Cary Grant. A classic that still holds up today.
