Emotion album
$3.99 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers at least one musical hook, whether it is the beauty of 'Human Nature' (who can resist the 'dada dada da da da') or the 'whoo whoo' of 'Billie Jean'. It's all too good.
Principally recorded at Westlake Audio, Los Angeles, California.

Personnel includes: Michael Jackson (vocals, percussion); Paul McCartney (vocals); Vincent Price (spoken vocals); ...

| | Melanie Fiona Bridge CD (2009)
Emotion music CDs
$9.99 Melanie Fiona's debut single, "Give It to Me Right," was a perfect 2009 pop-R&B recording. The single coupled a timeless classic (the Zombies' "Time of the Season") with roof-raising vocals and infectious pop hooks that stuck like peanut butter. Fiona's single was perfect, albeit a touch formulaic. Because of this, it's no surprise that a large chunk of her debut album, THE BRIDGE, is much of the same. Like any good 2009 pop-soul recording, the album offers influences from decades of soul music. Fiona, a Kanye West protégé, collaborates with about as many styles of music as she has producers and writers, who include most prominently Canadian R&B singer-songwriter Andrea Martin, Rob Fusari, Peter Wade Keusch, Sidh Solanki, Vada Nobles, Bill Blast, Future Cut, Stereotypes, Dan Strong, JK, Jay Fenix, and Affiliate. This mash-up of masterminds is a good thing; it offers the listener generous portions of put-together pop songs which color outside the lines in terms of genre. THE BRIDGE is the perfect launching pad for a solid career where she can further explore her possibilities as an artist, seeing as she appeals to the masses as well as the critics.
Melanie Fiona toured with Kanye West on his 2008 European tour .Kanye has since called her the "next up & coming talent to watch”..Her sound is genre-crossing blending pop, R&B & reggae.
Lyricist: Andrea Martin .
Personnel: Claude Kelly (vocals); Sidh Solanki (guitar, ...
| | Etta James At Last! CD (1961) Remastered
Emotion songs
$7.85 Originally released on Argo (4003). Includes liner notes by Andy McKaie.
Digitally remastered by Erick Labson (MCA Music Media Studios, North Hollywood, California).
When Etta James signed with Chess Records in 1960, the label decided to pair her raw, bluesy singing with a full backing band and lush orchestrations. AT LAST!, her Chess debut, shows the formula working to fine effect, as it highlights the singer's facility with different approaches including torchy balladry, jazz crooning, growling blues, and R&B shouting. She sounds equally at home on Willie Dixon stompers ("I Just Want To Make Love To You"), standards ("Stormy Weather"), and down-tempo soul workouts (the beautiful title track).
James performs several duets with Moonglows vocalist (and then-boyfriend) Harvey Fuqua, including Dixon's "Spoonful," the duo's self-penned "My Heart Cries," and the chart-hit "If I Can't Have You." The emotionally wrenching ...
| | Tupac All Eyez On Me CDs (1996) Remastered; Enhanced CD
Emotion album
$20.25 This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files including the video for "California Love."
ALL EYEZ ON ME was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "California Love," featuring Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman, and "How Do U Want It," featuring KC and JoJo, were both nominated for the 1997 Grammy for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
This is an enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
The first double-CD of original material by a rap artist, ALL EYEZ ON ME marks 2Pac's return from incarceration to the recording grind. And though Tupac Shakur may have spent the better part of 1995 locked up and battling the system, the album makes it obvious that, rather than degenerating his artistic abilities, the struggles have only elevated his skills. Now, with the backing of West Coast hip-hop's first family, Death Row Records, 2Pac gathers together many of the rap ruling class to celebrate his comeback and give the finger to those who've scrutinized his music and aggravated his existence.
While California has always been his base of operations (he began his career as a member of Oakland's Digital Underground), 2Pac is one of the few '90s rappers to earn props on both coasts. ALL EYEZ ON ME reciprocates the respect by toasting the west ("California Love," a duet with Dr. Dre), the east ("Got My Mind Made Up" features NYC strong-men, Redman and Method Man), and the old-school funkateers (George Clinton shows up on "Can't C Me"). The consistently fierce production by a diverse army ...

| | Memphis Minnie Complete Recorded Works, Vol. 5 (1935-1941) CD (1991) Import
Emotion music CDs
$13.35 The fifth and final volume in Document's series begins with a mid-1940 studio date, Memphis Minnie's first in over a year; recorded with Little Son Joe on second guitar, these simple, unaffected sides are among her strongest, with tracks like "Ma Rainey" (a tribute to the recently deceased blues great) and "Nothing in Rambling" brimming with confidence and inspiration. Her final pre-war session, recorded late in 1941, closes out the set; performing on amplified guitar, Minnie's music adopts a relatively urbanized sound on tracks like the superb "I Am Sailin'" and "Don't ...
| | D O C No One Can Do It Better CD (1989)
Emotion songs
$8.59 An early landmark of West Coast rap, the D.O.C.'s debut album, No One Can Do It Better, remains sorely underheard today, largely because the car crash that destroyed the rapper's voice also cut short his time in the spotlight before he'd had a chance to really cement his reputation among the general public. When No One Can Do It Better was released the West Coast had just started to break nationally thanks to the gangsta movement and wasn't known for much outside of N.W.A and Ice-T. In the D.O.C., however, the scene found a new level of credibility: a highly skilled battle rhymer who could hold his own with any East Coast lyrical virtuoso. Though his chops are rarely mentioned in the same breath, the D.O.C. clearly ranks up near the master technicians of the era, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane; while he may not be as smooth as the former or as spectacularly wordy as the latter, he has a distinctively rough, commanding voice and an aggressive, hard-hitting flow all his own. There's another important reason to hear No One Can Do It Better: it's where Dr. Dre's legend as a producer really begins. Straight Outta Compton notwithstanding, Dre truly comes into his own here, crafting funky, varied tracks that blend synths, drum machines, samples, and live instrumentation. You won't hear anything that resembles a blueprint for The Chronic, but sonically, they're as rich as anything around at the time. Both Dre and the D.O.C. are remarkably consistent throughout, so special mention has to go to the rousing N.W.A posse cut "The Grand Finalé," which even features DJ Yella on live drums. It's a shame that the D.O.C. never got the chance for a proper follow-up, but in No One Can Do It Better, he at least has one undeniable masterpiece. ~ Steve ...

| | Tindersticks, Vol. 2 CDs (1995)
Emotion songs
$20.55 A string of adjectives come to mind when trying to describe the music of the Tindersticks: romantic, ironic, moody, lush and cinematic, among them. There is a touch of camp to the dark, graceful beauty of these songs, as shimmering waves of vibes, chiming guitars, funeral parlor organ, bold horn arrangements and rich, lilting strings create a surreal, late-night lounge atmosphere. The band employs equal doses of the Velvet Underground, late-period Roxy Music and movie soundtrack textures, while vocalist Stuart Staples affects a smooth, lugubrious Scott Walker-esque croon honed to a dramatic mumble, giving the ensemble a distinctive sound.
The band's second album lives up to the expectations generated by their dazzling debut. There is less of a rock element here. The hushed, spooky ambience conjured by tracks such as "A Night In," "No More Affairs," and "Cherry Blossoms," with its ghostly, double-tracked vocals, stakes out new, evocative territory for the band, heightened by Staples beautiful, though often indecipherable baritone murmur. The influence of film music is felt in the almost Ennio Morricone-esque "Vertrauen II" and "Snowy In F# Minor," while the band's subtle, sly sense of humor is evident on tracks like the tongue-in-cheek swing of "My Sister." This is a mightily impressive follow-up disc by one of the more creative and stylish pop acts of the '90s.
UK remastered reissue of the distinctive alternative act's 1995 sophomore album includes a bonus disc, 'Live At The Bloomsbury Theatre - 12/3/95 ...
