Additional Footage; Bio/Filmographies; Soundtrack English; Director's Comments; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re; Behind The Scenes In Stuart Gordon's RE-ANIMATOR, a demented medical student develops a serum that can bring human corpses back to life, but the re-animated carcasses turn spastically violent in this smart, gore-strewn, tongue-in-cheek schlocker based on a story by H.P. Lovecraft.
Herbert West (Jeffery Combs) has found the secret to eternal life--or so he thinks. West needs fresh cadavers to continue his experiments in the re-animation of dead tissue, so he enlists the help of young medical student Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott) to steal bodies from the local morgue. Despite all the warning signs of failure, the eccentric West's research continues. The results are crazed zombies that roam the streets, severed heads that talk, murder, madness, and chaos, all in the name of science, of course. Director Stuart Gordon's film debut, an adaptation of the short story by H.P. Lovecraft, is a masterpiece of ghoulish fun. Graphic special effects, good scripting, and perfectly over-the-top performances make RE-ANIMATOR a classic horror film in the tradition of THE EVIL DEAD and RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. Theatrical release: September 14, 1985.

Better than I expected
Ok, I almost didn't buy this because of Stuart Gordon. I saw Castle
Freak befeore (another Stuart Gordon film) before I saw this one. Caslte Freak was dumb, and I was expecting about the same level of stupidity from Re-animator. Boy, was I wrong. Re-animator is probably one of the best horror films I previously missed. The plot is damn good, and the effects and gore are good and plenty. Althought the actors left something to be desired, this is an awesome horror film. Submitted by a reviewer (film land) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
AFRAID, NO. LAUGHED, YES! I am not a big fan of "gore" movies. I didn't see this one by choice but at the end I was glad I saw it. It now sits in my home video library. The special effects are spectacular and will keep you laughing throughout the movie. This isn't a realistic "gore" film but one that will make you wonder how writers come up with their ideas. You'll find yourself saying "ohhh, gross!" many times but you'll also find you can't stop watching it. Not for the young but great for us adults!!! Classic Great horror movie with lot's of originality. The instrumentals played throughout the movie were creepy and fit really well. Kinda reminded me of a 80's more demented version of Frankenstein. Jeff Combs is great as Herbert West. Check it out! Submitted by Mike (Greensburg, PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

Re-Animator movie DVD
$10.55 WIND CHILL takes the conventions of the haunted house film and transplants them to a dangerous stretch of road where the unfortunate victims of prior events haunt those unwise enough to drive on it. Director Greg Jacobs's film is the tale of an unnamed young student (Emily Blunt) at a Northeastern College in need of a ride home to Delaware for Christmas break. Deciding to check the ride board, she finds a fellow student (Ashton Holmes, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE) going her way, though an impending blizzard promises to make their ride treacherous. Very early into their journey, he opts for a scenic route, only to be run off the road by a reckless driver. Stuck in the snow, with no cell phone service, the two are forced to get to know each other under the worst circumstances as they learn of the area's frightening history and try to save themselves from perishing in the cold.
A sparkling addition to the realm of holiday-themed fright films, WIND CHILL sidesteps gratuitous gore and murderous Santas in favor of chilling images of ghostly figures in a snowy landscape. Creating ample suspense with a story that unfolds largely within a car, director Gregory Jacobs (CRIMINAL) keeps the abrupt jolts to a minimum, relying on mood and a compounding sense of dread. Writers Joseph Gangemi and Steven Katz give us two characters--realized through fine work by Blunt and Holmes--whom we learn to care for as we watch them endure a realistically horrific situation. Claustrophobic, understated, and painted with a snowy glow of cool blue, ...
