Originally released by Columbia Records in the '50s, these recordings of the Chordettes are strictly female barbershop quartet. There is nothing here with the crossover appeal of their biggest hit, "Mr. Sandman." Harmony Encores and Your Requests remained out of print for many years until they were reissued on CD by Collectables in 2003. The vocal arrangements on these 23 tracks are first-rate especially on "Carolina Moon," "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi," "Anniversary Waltz," and "For Me and My Gal," but rather tedious if taken in large doses. Recommended for die-hard fans and barbershop harmony enthusiasts. ~ Al Campbell
