Set in the 24th century (nearly 100 years after the stewardship of Captain Kirk), the series introduced an all-new cast of intergalactic travellers exploring the farthest reaches out of outer space on a mission to chart new planets and alien civilizations. Ship commander Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) anchored the crew of the Starship Enterprise-D with a sensitive reserve that marked a distinct contrast to his trigger-happy predecessor, whose role was assumed by the Kirk-like second-in-command, William Riker (Jonathan Frakes). Rounding out the cast were the Spock-like android, Data (Brent Spiner); blind officer, Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton); Klingon officer, Worf (Michael Dorn); ship doctor, Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden); her teenage son, Wesley (Wil Wheaton); and psychic psychiatrist, Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis). Considered one of the best STAR TREK spinoffs for its intelligent writing and superb sci-fi special effects, THE NEXT GENERATION lives on in cult fandom with this complete collection of episodes from the series' debut season. I am completely thrilled to have the first season of Star Trek tng. I have watched episodes that I have seen before and now I enjoy them all over again. I can also appreciate episodes that I missed for the very first time.

 Definitely for Trekkies
This is a must-have for those of us who watched the first-run of Star Trek TNG on television. It has all the essential ingredients of the Star Trek phenomenon. However, it is dated in a way that the original series isn't.

Next Generation finally comes home!
After recording every single broadcast episode to VHS it was great to finally be able to start my new collection on DVD. I started watching the first disc of the set and before I knew it, I had watched seven episodes! The quality of the recording process is great and the surround sound and dolby digital audio gives the show a nice theatrical feel. I recommend this set to anyone who is truly a Trekkie - Resistance is futile!

The Episodes transfered nicely over to DVD. Best of all on this collector's set is the four extra features on the last dvd. It makes the purchase worth it.

The beginning of what will become the definitive Star Trek collection. Excellent video transfer, 5.1 sound, and bonus material. A must for any DVD library.
