Colleen Flynn, Faye Dunaway, Lara Flynn Boyle, Lin Shaye, Steven Weber, Timothy Hutton - Director: Tom Holland A temp worker makes it perfectly clear that she wishes to stay with the company. Kris Bolin is the beautiful but very mysterious office temp hired by junior executive Peter Derns. The good news is, Kris is the perfect assistant, able to complete every task flawlessly. The bad news is, Kris is bound and determined to climb the corporate ladder, and will do anything to make it to the top. So when several top executives begin taking PERMANENT lunch breaks, Peter begins to suspect that Kris is behind the murders. But is she really the killer? Or is someone else responsible for the deaths, and if so, who? Peter Derns (Timothy Hutton), a recently divorced junior executive at a successful cookie company, decides to hire a temp when things at the office get too hairy. Enter Kris (Lara Flynn Boyle), the new secretary who seems to do no wrong. Peter is extremely grateful when Kris rescues him from some potential office disasters, but he begins to feel that he's in danger when it appears that her fierce loyalty to him is leading her to do away with some of his superiors in strangely bloody fashion. This dark satire veers recklessly between nasty horror and knowing office comedy, doling out laughs and shocks in equal measure. Color by DeLuxe. $7.05 The plot of INTERNAL AFFAIRS is simple and familiar--good guy Raymond Avila (Andy Garcia) works for the internal affairs division of the LAPD and has to take down Dennis Peck (Richard Gere), a corrupt officer. The twist is that the film is really about social change in America. Gere plays Peck as an iconoclastic force of nature; he charms everyone he meets, runs the force by trading favors and protecting his own, and has eight kids with four wives. He sees himself as a throwback to an older notion of manhood and professional effectiveness. Avila, on the other hand, is a hero but also--as Peck calls him--a yuppie, seeking promotion in the internal affairs division and involved in a childless marriage with a successful museum curator (Nancy Travis). As Peck pushes Avila's buttons, the situation is further complicated by Avila's Latin temper--a kind of suppressed, true ethnic self that increasingly ...

$14.99 Charlotte Rampling gives one of her most acclaimed performances in thei mesmerizing tale of loss and grief.
Francois Ozon's haunting UNDER THE SAND stars the remarkable British actress Charlotte Rampling, who plays Marie Drillon: a strong, attractive, professional, independent middle-aged woman trying to get her life back on track after the sudden disappearance of her husband. Even for a superwoman like Marie, the shock of the tragedy is psychologically traumatizing. Marie isn't sure what happened to her husband (Is he dead? Did he run off with someone else?) and she's in denial about him being gone. At Parisian dinner parties with her supportive, careful friends, Marie still talks about her husband in the present tense. At home, she still imagines that he is with her; she pours two cups of tea in the morning and she reminds him to set the alarm clock before going to sleep at night. At the university where she teaches English, she reads to her students from the melancholy book THE WAVES by Virginia Woolf. Through all of this, Ozon's camera caresses Marie and encourages her, always casting her in cold, confident light. Using film language such as the repeated double reflection of Marie's face in the ...

$6.89 E.L. Doctorow's acclaimed novel forms the basis of BILLY BATHGATE, which stars Loren Dean as the title character. In the New York of 1935, the naive Bronx-born teenager wangles his way into the gang of his hero, crime boss Dutch Schultz (Dustin Hoffman), as a gofer. Although the boy doesn't know it, Schultz is approaching the end of his storied career and the Feds are closing in, hoping to put him behind bars for income-tax evasion. The youth quickly learns about the endless violence, treachery, and double-crossing that characterize mob life, such as Schultz's cold-blooded execution of his former enforcer, Bo Weinberg (Bruce Willis). After Billy tips Dutch off about some traitorous activity in his organization, he moves up a couple of rungs and is soon entrusted with guarding the gangster's girlfriend, Drew Preston (Nicole Kidman). This proves to be something of a problem, since the beauty has a mind of her own and doesn't take anything from anybody, including Dutch. Worse still, Billy finds himself falling in love with her. Dean's pivotal performance strikes just the right balance between street-smart toughness and wide-eyed wonder, and the protean ...

$19.55 Jess Franco is no stranger to sleaze, and SADOMANIA may be his most glorious achievement in that category (directed under the alias "Robert Griffin"). Alluring young bride Tara (PLAYBOY model Ursula Fellner) arrives at a terrifying prison camp, led by the beautiful, but quite sadistic, warden Magda Urtado (transsexual adult star Ajita Wilson). In a whirling mix of lesbianism, bestiality, white slavery (including a cameo by Franco), and violence, Franco creates one of his most controversial sexploitation flicks. Completely banned in the United Kingdom, and released ...
